As I approach the time of my leaving St. John Bosco parish on November 17. Although I may be doing weekday masses and weekend masses until the end of November, I will not be living in the rectory. I am trying to find a way to change the administrator of the St. John Bosco page. If if this is not possible, I will be closing the page to be reopened by the next person. If you have any knowledge about such a change , please inform the office. On Thursdays between 9 AM and 3 PM there would be a person here to take your call.

Parish bulletin for the coming two weeks.

For quite some time now, I have been having great difficulty in breathing and pains in my lungs. After contacting my family physician, and specialists, it has been discovered that I have idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. This disease causes scarring within the lungs. This is a chronic disease which will only continue to degrade my ability to breathe.
Under these conditions, I am finding it ever more difficult to meet the needs of our parish, our school and our community. Having spoken with His Excellency Gerard Paul Bishop Bergie, and with his advice, I have found it necessary to retire from active ministry within the Diocese of Saint Catharines. It is expected that I will retire near the month of December, and that a pastor will be chosen by that time to lead our parish. It is my hope that you will receive him with the same enthusiasm with which you received me 11 years ago. May God bless us all and may the Blessed Virgin Mary guide us as always.

Just one day before her passing, 27-year-old Holly Butcher wrote a message—not to say goodbye, but to wake us up.

Facing death from a rare cancer at just 26, Holly had every right to be angry. But instead, she used her final hours to give the world a gift: clarity.

In her now-famous letter titled “A bit of life advice from Hol,” Holly didn’t mourn the future she’d never have—she reminded us to embrace the life we do have.

She wrote:

Stop hating your body. Move it, nourish it, and be grateful it carries you.

Put your phone down. Be present with the people you love.

Spend your time and money on experiences—not things. Swim in the ocean. Go to the concert. Hug your loved ones longer.

Say "I love you" more. Forgive quicker. Let go of resentment.

And please—donate blood. “It gave me one more year,” she wrote. “That gift meant everything.”

Holly didn’t get the full life she dreamed of. But her final words have changed the lives of millions.

She reminded us:
We are not promised tomorrow.
But today—today is still ours.

So love deeply.
Give freely.
And live fully.

How could this happen and why was it not in the news! We are about to open a new hospital in Niagara Falls. That will have to cover Port Colborne, Fort Erie, and the rest of the southern area of Niagara. By travel, the new Niagara Hospital will be half an hour away and that the hospital in Welland will be closed and probably sold. This shows a great lack of preparation and initiation of a new hospital. As Niagara health system is trying to diminish the amount of coverage for the southern area of the Peninsula, we continue to realize that we are going to be left very much alone.
