A huge thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who have been busy preparing decorations, crafts, and activities for an unforgettable week at PORT BIC Church!

Children will journey through the vibrant world of Rainforest Falls: Exploring the Nature of God, where they’ll enjoy:

Last fall, we gathered as a faith community for a Townhall meeting to listen well and discern together what matters most for the future of PORT BIC Church. One clear priority rose to the surface again and again: strengthening ministry to children, youth, young adults and families.

From that place of listening, prayer, and discernment, a job description was developed for a Next Generation & Family Life Director—and we are so grateful for the way God has guided every step of the search process.

We are thrilled to announce that Sarah Mack is joining our faith community next month as our Next Generation & Family Life Director, along with her family—James, Hannah and Zoe!

We look forward with great anticipation to Sarah’s vision, rich experience within the BIC Church, educational background, passion for discipleship, and deep love for Jesus and people. We are excited for how God will use her gifts to help shape ministry with the next generation.

We also celebrate this new chapter for their family:
• Hannah will be starting Brock University in the concurrent education program
• Zoe will be starting high school and (maybe) acquiring a pet chicken or two
• James is known online through his YouTube channel, Smoking Dad BBQ

We are so blessed to welcome them into our church family and we can’t wait to do life together.

🪲 A Remarkable Discovery in the Valley of David and Goliath

In April 2025, three-year-old girl Ziv Nitzan made an extraordinary find while hiking at Tel Azeka in Israel—a 3,800-year-old stone shaped like a scarab.

Scarab amulets originated in ancient Egypt, where scarab beetles were revered as symbols of renewal, rebirth, and new life. The Egyptians observed beetles laying eggs within the dung balls they rolled and believed they mysteriously brought life from what appeared to be decay, making them powerful symbols of creation and transformation.

What makes this discovery even more fascinating is its location. Tel Azeka is identified in Scripture as one of the sites connected to the famous confrontation between David and Goliath.

"Now the Philistines gathered their armies together to battle, and were gathered at Sochoh, which belongs to Judah; they encamped between Sochoh and Azekah, in Ephes Dammim."

This remarkable find serves as another reminder of how archaeology continues to illuminate the historical landscapes of the Bible, connecting modern discoveries with events recorded thousands of years ago.

Today marks the first day of June—a brand new month and the beginning of a wonderful summer season!

At PORT BIC CHURCH, we’re looking forward to all that God has in store and we’d love for you to be part of it.

This week we’re getting ready for Day Camp with decorating days on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Whether you can join us for an hour or 2, we’d love your help as we prepare our spaces to welcome children from our community.

Welcome, Sarah!🩷

Today we had the absolute pleasure of introducing our new staff member at PORT BIC CHURCH!

Please join us in welcoming Sarah Mack, our new Next Generation & Family Life Director. Sarah, her husband James, and their daughters Hannah and Zoe will be joining our church family in July.

We are deeply grateful for God’s faithful leading throughout this process and for guiding Sarah to PORT BIC. We believe God has exciting things ahead as we strengthen our discipleship pathways from birth through young adulthood, helping the next generation know, love, and follow Jesus.
