This year St. James the Apostle in Port Carling filled 18 shoeboxes for The Muskoka Shoebox Project. Each shoebox brings dignity, comfort and a moment of joy to a woman in our community who needs to feel seen, valued and supported this season.
You can help us reach the 2025 goal of 1900 shoeboxes with a financial donation. https://shoeboxproject.kindful.com/?campaign=1150026
100% of your donation goes to buy necessities and little luxuries packed by volunteers into gifts for real women in our community who may not receive anything else this season.
Many cottagers donβt realize how difficult it is to live and work in a seasonal paradise like Muskoka. Many local families struggle to make ends meet through the school year. Itβs not always abject poverty and homelessness but underemployment and food insecurity. Hard working parents compete for limited jobs in the off-season. Through the finer weather we all depend on them to provide property maintenance, cleaning, septic and construction services. They cook, clean and serve at our favourite restaurants and resorts. They repair our cars, boats and cottages. They stock the shelves and check us out at the grocery, lcbo and other stores. But through the winter, these jobs disappear with the cottagers. Your generosity helps make it easier for our community to give back and ensures that every box of kindness finds its way to a woman who truly needs it this holiday season. Thank you for standing with us and supporting the women of Muskoka.
