6:28 pm from Janet: “We have just received an evacuation alert! Our housing community of Red Wing is specifically named.
We will go to a friend in Oliver 30 min South, if we are told to leave. Our car is packed. Trying to think of everything.”

Update from Clint & Janet Heigh (Saturday morning, Aug. 8th): “The fire is Far from under control !!!
Summerland is on fire. It's halfway through town already. Not to D&C yet.
The whole town has been evacuated. 😢
Brad and all left last night at 11:30 to start heading home the south way. The hwy north to Kelowna is closed to all except emergency vehicles.
This is so sad and scary. We are getting our bag's ready. Penticton is full of evacuees.”

This message just came from Janet Heigh: “A fast moving fire has started about 15 km from Summerland. They have bombers on it but the wind is blowing embers ahead. This is very bad!!! They are already evacuating people to the west of Summerland. Please pray!!!”
