🍩❤️ Happy National Doughnut Day! ❤️🍩

Today, our team from the Salvation Army, Picton Community Church, and Family Services packaged and delivered 40 dozen freshly made doughnuts—lovingly prepared by our friends at Lakeshore Farms—to some of our community’s everyday heroes.

National Doughnut Day honours the brave “Doughnut Lassies” of the The Salvation Army, who served fresh doughnuts to soldiers on the front lines during the First World War. Today, the doughnut remains a symbol of our ongoing commitment to bringing hope, compassion, and practical support to those in need across Canada and Bermuda.

As a small gesture of gratitude, we shared doughnuts with many of our local frontline workers, including the dedicated staff of:

* Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital
* Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County Detachment
* Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue
* Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services
* Hallowell House Long-Term Care Home
* West Lake Terrace Long-Term Care
* H.J. McFarland Memorial Home
* Manor on Loyalist Parkway Retirement Home
* Kentwood Park Long-Term Care

Thank you to each of these incredible organizations and the people who serve our community with dedication, compassion, and care every day.

We are grateful for all that you do! 💙🍩

Thank you also to our amazing Corps volunteers who helped to make this day possible! 🥰

Tomorrow, our team at The Salvation Army Picton Community Church will be spreading a little sweetness throughout our community by delivering delicious doughnuts to many of our frontline workers.

This small gesture is our way of saying "THANK YOU" for the care, dedication, compassion and hard work our frontline workers provide everyday.

Wishing all of our frontline workers a wonderful National Doughnut Day!

You are appreciated more than you know! 🥯🥰🍩🥰🥯

Thank you to Sandy, Torsten, Margaret and Bev from Food to share for preparing 53 delicious portions of pork chops with apple and apple sauce, fresh asparagus with tarragon butter for our Community & Family Services Food Bank. We will include these entrees with our regular food hampers, and will also serve them to those in need of a fresh "eat-in" or "take-out" hot meal.

You are no doubt aware that our Corps Officer, Lt.-Colonel Lauren Effer has been on a health journey over the past year and has now reached the rehabilitation and recovery process.

In order for Lt.-Colonel Grant to support Lauren through the recovery process, it is necessary for him to temporarily step aside from some of his responsibilities.

During this time, we are pleased to welcome Majors Larry and Marilyn Bridger, who have been appointed to Picton as Interim Support Officers until July 27.

Larry and Marilyn will be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sunday mornings. They will be providing pastoral care and support to the congregation, leading Sunday worship services, and assisting staff and Community & Family Services as needed.

Please join us in warmly welcoming Majors Larry and Marilyn Bridger to Picton, while continuing to keep Lauren and Grant in your thoughts and prayers during this season.
