These little feet have a lot of growing and walking ahead of them. Our prayer is that they will always walk with Jesus.

This past Sunday we had the joy of dedicating five children to Jesus. Their parents committed to raising them to know and follow Christ, and our church committed to come alongside them in that calling.

Pastor Jani reminded us that dedication is about blessing, belonging and becoming: blessing each child and recognizing they are a blessing from God, giving them a church where they know they belong, and helping them become more like Jesus.

May these little feet follow Jesus all their days, and may we faithfully help show them the way.

In 1978, a small group stepped out in faith from Kennedy Road Church of the Nazarene to plant what became Altona Church of the Nazarene. They gave sacrificially of their time, skills, prayers, and resources to build a church where people could know Jesus. Many taught children, served their neighbours, and even helped build this church - brick by brick - with their own hands.

Then, in 2015, Rosewood Church of the Nazarene planted Connect Church of the Nazarene in Ajax. Meeting first in a movie theatre, Connect was founded with the same heart: helping people connect with Jesus and grow as His disciples, together.

In 2025, those two stories became one as Altona and Connect united to become Altona Connect Church. Today, we continue that shared legacy as a Bible-based, family-oriented, multigenerational church serving Durham Region.

Recently, Pastor Jani found this hand-drawn sketch of the original church and framed it to keep on his desk. It's a reminder that we're building on the prayers, sacrifices, and faithfulness of those who came before us.

This Sunday we'll be dedicating several babies and children to the Lord.

In the Church of the Nazarene, child dedication is more than a promise made by parents. It's a commitment made by the whole church family. Together, we promise to pray for these children, encourage their families, and help them grow to know and follow Jesus.

We hope you'll join us this Sunday as we celebrate these families and make this commitment together.

A fresh coat of paint can make a big difference!

Over the past few weeks, our sanctuary and foyer have been professionally painted, and we're excited to share that the project is now complete. We're thankful for everyone who helped make it happen and for this refreshed space where we'll continue to worship, learn, pray, and welcome our community.

If you haven't seen it yet, we'd love to see you this Sunday.

Usually, we're asking God for sunshine. Today, we're asking Him for rain.

Please pray for the people of Mishkeegogamang First Nation. This is the community our church partners with each Christmas, and right now they are one of several communities under an evacuation order because of the ongoing wildfires.

The first phase of the evacuation is now complete, with approximately 120 people arriving safely in Barrie. Families have been separated. Some older children have stayed behind to care for pets, while younger children and vulnerable elders have had to leave.

The latest reports are encouraging that the air quality remains good. A thunderstorm is in the forecast, and rain would be a welcome gift, provided it comes without lightning.

Please join us in praying:
🌧 For steady rain to help firefighters contain the fires.
🌲 For God's protection over every family and community member.
🌦 For peace and strength for those who have been evacuated and those still waiting.
☔ For wisdom, endurance, and safety for firefighters and emergency personnel.

As we pray for Mishkeegogamang, let's also remember the many communities across Canada that have been affected by wildfires and smoke. May God bring protection, comfort, strength, and the rain that is so desperately needed.

What a day. ☀️

We gathered for worship outdoors, shared a BBQ, laughed through lawn games and water games, admired the fire truck, got creative with face painting, and simply enjoyed being together.

Days like this remind us that church is about people. It’s about making memories, building friendships, and creating space where everyone feels welcome.

A huge thank you to the many volunteers who gave their time, energy, and gifts to make SummerFest happen. We couldn’t have done it without you.

If today was any indication, we’d love to make SummerFest an annual tradition. See you next year!

Tomorrow will be a special Sunday as we say goodbye to Pastor Ruth.

Over the past few years, Pastor Ruth has faithfully served our church with a deep love for Jesus, a heart for people, and a passion for missions. Alongside her husband, Pastor Daniel, she has been a wonderful encouragement to our church family and our community.

As Pastor Ruth and Pastor Daniel prepare to move to Ottawa to be closer to their family, we're grateful for the impact they have made and the many ways they have blessed us.

Pastor Ruth will be bringing the message tomorrow morning, and we'd love for you to join us as we worship together, hear God's Word, and thank her for her faithful ministry.

Join us tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. We'd love to see you as we celebrate God's faithfulness and send Pastor Ruth and Pastor Daniel with our love and prayers.

This Sunday, our church family sang, *Grace! Grace! God’s Grace.*

For some, hymns feel like home. For others, they can seem unfamiliar. But there’s a reason the Church has continued to sing them for generations. They are rich in biblical truth, point us to Christ, and remind us of the hope we have in Him.

Corporate worship is one of God’s gifts to His people. As children, parents, and seniors lift their voices together, faith is strengthened, truth is remembered, and hearts are shaped by the gospel.

What hymn has stayed with you over the years?

This Sunday is Graduation Sunday! 🎓

From preschool to Grade 8, high school to university, this weekend marks an important milestone for many in our church family. These moments are about more than completing another year. They mark new beginnings, growing responsibility, and God's faithfulness through every season.

As a church, we want to celebrate these transitions together. We want our graduates to know they are seen, encouraged, prayed for, and supported as they take their next steps.

We're also excited to hear from Shelley, our Youth Director, as she brings God's Word during the service. Then, after the service, stick around because we're celebrating with ice cream!

See you Sunday!!

(If you have a graduate in your family please email the church ASAP so they're included!)

The votes are in... and we have a winner!

A few weeks ago we asked our church family to help choose the new colour for our sanctuary and foyer. We painted samples on just about every wall so we could see how each colour looked in different lighting throughout the building.

By a landslide, Swiss Coffee by Benjamin Moore took the win!

Next Sunday we'll be clearing out the sanctuary to get everything ready for the painters. We can't wait to give these spaces a fresh new look as we prepare for another season of worship, fellowship, and ministry together.

A huge thank you to everyone who generously gave toward this project. Your generosity is helping refresh a space that serves our church family and our community every week.

Swipe through the photos to see the colour contenders and the winning shade! Which one did you vote for?
