We gathered at The Lake House in Pickering to celebrate a truly remarkable milestone: Gillian and David’s 40th wedding anniversary! As long-time parishioners of St. Martin’s, their journey together has been a beautiful testament to love, commitment, and community.

Surrounded by family, friends, and our St. Martin’s family, we shared laughter, stories, and heartfelt wishes for many more years of happiness together. Your love inspires us all, Gillian and David, and we’re so grateful to have you in our lives. Here’s to many more adventures together!

Faith in the Food Court 📚☕️

On Monday evening, our small group gathered for Faith in the Food Court as we continued our book club discussion of 52 Ways to Reconcile: How to Walk with Indigenous Peoples on the Path to Healing by David A. Robertson.

Our focus was Chapter 19, which introduces three different worldviews among Indigenous peoples, while recognizing that there are many more:
🌿 The Haudenosaunee Great Law of Peace — Mohawk, Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga, Seneca and Tuscarora
🌿 The Seven Sacred Teachings — Anishinaabe in origin
🌿 Non-Interference — Cree

Our shared reading opened up some wonderful and thoughtful conversation among those of us in attendance. We quickly realized that this is a topic that deserves more time and research if we are to truly understand and appreciate these different worldviews. So, we have given ourselves some homework to explore these teachings more deeply before our next meeting!

One of the things that is so wonderful about this group is the growing awareness we are developing around Indigenous products, books, culture and issues. Each meeting seems to open another door to learning.

This week, our session began with a book exchange — sharing books and recommendations with one another — and ended with something a little different: sampling Full Moon Water, a flavoured sparkling water made by The County Bounty Artisanal Soda Co.
It was a lovely way to finish an evening of learning, sharing and connecting.

The St. Martin’s Outreach Team dropped off 35 lbs of non-perishable items and 9 lbs of fresh produce from our community garden to the local food bank.

Every contribution makes a difference, and we’re grateful for the support from our amazing community. Together, we’re helping to nourish those in need and promote food security. Let’s keep the momentum going!

The garden crew did a big cleanup and harvested fresh vegetables to take to the Food Bank. A playful monarch paid a visit which was a lovely surprise! 🦋

We are grateful for the bountiful harvest from our St. Martin’s vegetable garden! It’s a reminder of the beauty and abundance of nature’s gifts.

We are also thankful for the opportunity to gather together in worship and the fellowship that strengthens our community and reminds us of the blessings we have in one another.

May we continue to appreciate and share the blessings we receive!
