May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else . . . . 1 Thessalonians 3:12

Over the last couple of weeks, the nominating committee has met and in turn has been calling people and asking if they would consider serving on a board or committee. I, being on this committee, was overwhelmed by the positive responses that we all received. At this point, almost every single position has been filled.

I would just like to say a big THANK YOU to every one who will be serving, or who has served in the past. There are a number of people who have served for many years and who have served on multiple boards and/or committees. Once again, thank you for you time, energy and willingness to serve.

This Sunday, Pastor David will be preaching. The sermon is based on 1 Thessalonians 2:13-3:13 and is titled "Living Ready - 1st Thessalonians: Genuine Love for the Other." This Sunday, even though it is not the first Sunday of the month, we will be celebrating communion. Please feel free to join us at 10:30 am on Sunday and remember that God loves you.

God is so good. It is amazing how time flies. It just seems like yesterday that I was retiring after 33 years of teaching. Well that was 4 years ago. At that time I was hired to work here at PBC as the Administrative Assistant and I very much enjoy what I do. This summer is going to be a little different. With Grace Woodworth being hired as the summer student, she will be assuming my duties in the office and I will be taking an extra 4 - 5 weeks of leave on top of my 3 weeks of holidays.

This Sunday is CBM Sunday (technically it was on April 12) and we are looking forward to having Darrell and Laura Lee Bustin share with us about their experience and work with Canadian Baptist Ministries.

Everyone is welcome to come and join us Sunday morning at 10:30 am for our worship service and remember that God loves you.

I do not have much to report on this week which can be a very good thing.

This weekend Pastor David and his family will be at the Atlantic Table Tennis Championships in Charlottetown PEI, where Harrison, Oliver and Wallace will be competing. We wish them safe travels and success at the tables.

On Sunday morning, Pastor Mackenzie will be preaching. The sermon is based on 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12. The title of the sermon is "Courage to Care Deeply."

I invite everyone to join us at 10:30 am for our worship service. Remember that God loves you.

Proverbs 31:25-26: "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue."

I hope everyone remembers that this Sunday is Mother's Day. I have only fond memories of my mom. She was gentle, kind, loving and most of all a Christian. God blessed me with her as my mom. If you are blessed to still have your mom, please take time to do something special to honour your mom.

This Sunday, Pastor David will be speaking and will be starting a sermon series on Thessalonians. The sermon is titled "Living Ready - 1st Thessalonians - An Introduction". Please feel free to join us at 10:30 am as we worship our heavenly Father and pay tribute to our mothers.

God is Good.

This Sunday, Petitcodiac Baptist Church is celebrating 189 years of presence in this community. This truly is a testament to God at work in and through this church and the people that make up this body of believers.

We are delighted to have a former pastor, Gordon Cook, as our special guest speaker on Sunday morning at 10:30 am. During the service, we will be welcoming 7 individuals into church membership. Then in the evening, we will be having a potluck supper at 5:30 pm, followed by an evening service of music and mission starting at 7:00 pm.

These celebrations cause us to reflect on the past as well as dreaming and envisioning what God may have in store for PBC in the future.

Everyone is invited to attend all of these events and remember that God loves you.

This week my mind has been more focused on the whole concept of life, death and the after life. There are a few reasons for this. We have just come through Easter season, our church family has had to say goodbye (for now) to Leonard Atkinson and Myrtle Geldart. I think this also has to do with the fact that I am getting older. I will be 62 this year, even though I don't feel like it.

I, however am so thankful that I do not have to fear death because of what Christ did for me and for all believers. By dying for me and conquering death, I am now seen as perfect in God's eyes. He paid the penalty for all the sins I have committed and will commit. This is why I feel so blessed to belong to the family of God and believers at PBC. If you have never committed your life to following Jesus Christ, I invite you to take the first step by coming and worship with us on Sunday morning at 10:30 am.

Pastor David will be speaking and the sermon is titled, "Jesus is . . . The Coming Judge".

Then on Sunday, April 26, we will have Teen Challenge at PBC. You are invited to come and and hear testimonies from a number of people about the saving and transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Hope to see you and remember that God loves you.

This evening we are having a Maundy Thursday communion service at 7:30 pm.

Some people are not familiar with Maundy Thursday and what significance it has.

It is a precursor to the other major Easter (Holy) week events. It falls between the commonly celebrated Ash Wednesday and the sorrowfulness of Good Friday. The significance of Maundy Thursday is often overlooked.

On Maundy Thursday we remember the evening when Jesus sat down with his disciples for the Last Supper. This meal was full of symbolism. This was followed by betrayal, and agony when Jesus went to pray in the Garden. This is where he was betrayed and eventually captured and arrested. For a day that is often overlooked, it has a great deal of significance.

During this service, the youth will be performing 3 dramatic readings, the choir will perform and we will also be celebrating the Lord's supper.

We will then have a Sunday morning Easter service at 10:30 am. where we will be celebrating that Jesus conquered death and rose from the grave. During the service, the choir will be performing a number of musical selections and we will get to witness someone walk through the waters of baptism. Everyone is welcome to come
to both of these services.

This Sunday is Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is celebrated the Sunday before Easter, and marks the beginning of Holy Week. It commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem on a donkey, where crowds welcomed him by waving palm branches. It is a significant day representing Jesus as the humble King and Savior.

On Sunday we will meet at 10:30 am for our worship service as we do every week. Everyone is welcome to come and join us. This week, Pastor David will be speaking. The sermon is titled
" Jesus Is . . . The Messiah! " This Sunday we will also be treated to special music from the Adult Choir and performances from the Puppets.

Please also check out the attached bulletin for other Easter events and services in the announcements.

God is good. Last Friday night at 11:48 pm, my wife and I had the joy of hearing that our 4th grandchild was born and that both baby and mom are doing extremely well. Her name is Olivia Therese Brubacher and she weighed 8 lbs 10 oz. Unfortunately, due to my wife's broken knee and me being sick, we have not been able to see our granddaughter in person. Hopefully that will happen this weekend.

This Sunday Pastor David will be preaching and the sermon continues in the same "Jesus Is . . . " series. This week focuses on the idea of Jesus being the one who requires our allegiance. Everyone is welcome to join us at 10:30 am on Sunday morning for our worship service.
