Please pray for the people of the Philippines, where a magnitude-7.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao island in the southern part of the country at 7:37 a.m. local time on Monday, causing widespread damage and destruction. The number of those killed or injured is still being determined.

God of justice and compassion,
You call us to be peacemakers in a world that longs for healing.
Be present with those who grieve,
those who live in fear,
and those who continue to struggle for dignity and justice.
Strengthen all who seek truth.
Guide leaders in the ways of accountability and peace.
Move our hearts beyond silence into faithful action.
Help us to work together—across communities and faiths—
in solidarity and hope,
trusting in your vision of a just and peaceful world.
Amen.

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12)

Happy Pride!

Last year, attendees of the Northern Indigenous Ministers Retreat gave ministers serving Northern communities a chance to relax, to breathe, and to relieve the pressure of their daily lives.

In Galatians 6:2, Paul writes: Bear one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. By coming together in fellowship and by working together to heal, these ministers are fulfilling the word of God.

You can help make this opportunity a reality again for those who need it. Your gift means much more than making this gathering possible: it means a minister who is carrying the weight of their community can finally set it down, reconnect, and return home renewed.

Please make your gift today: http://uccf-northern-ministers-retreat.pllenty.com

As we prepare to celebrate the 101st anniversary of The United Church of Canada on June 10, we give thanks for the faith, courage, and vision that have sustained our church through more than a century of ministry.

Reflecting on our past with gratitude, we also look forward with hope, trusting that God continues to lead us into new possibilities.

In a world that is both beautiful and broken, we are called to discern the new things God is doing among us and to embrace a future marked by renewal, compassion, and faithful service to our neighbours and communities.

Union Sunday Prayer

God in whom we live and move and have our being:
From sea to sea to sea we gather in prayer;
from generation to generation we sing;
on this anniversary we give thanks
for your care
guidance
and correction.
In this heritage of trust
we pray for this United Church
and for faithful living on this land,
Our Source of Life, Living Word, and Bonding Love:
Amen.

June is National Indigenous History Month. Events that explore Indigenous history, stories and teachings are taking place throughout the month at locations across the city: https://ow.ly/QPC950Z6KA8
“National Indigenous History Month is an important opportunity to recognize and celebrate the histories, cultures, traditions and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples,” said Mayor Jeff Leal. “Throughout the month, residents are encouraged to take part in the learning opportunities taking place across Peterborough. These events help foster greater understanding, reflection and connection, while recognizing the enduring strength and leadership of Indigenous communities.”

Today, 65 countries have laws that criminalize LGBTQIA+people for who they are or how they express themselves. In some places, being LGBTQIA+ can still carry the death penalty. That's roughly 34% of the world where simply being yourself can come with legal consequences.

Which is why friendship, allyship, and acceptance matter so much. There is still work to do. 🌈❤️
