Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia, marked by 132 countries over the globe. From subtle innuendo to conversion therapy, to violence, daily people live in fear because they will be attack for being who they are. Today, let us stand against the hate and violence many face each day and celebrate the fact that each person is a beloved child made in the image and likeness of God. St John's is a fully inclusive Christian community: all people are welcome to share in our worship, fellowship, and leadership.
A prayer for the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (author unknown)
God’s Creation is not monochrome, nor is it singular in type; there is a plethora of shapes, sizes, colours, objects, and species.
God of new life, we thank you for the diversity in Creation, knowing that each animal, each blade of grass, each droplet of water, and each breath of air, while unique, are connected physically and spiritually.
God of courage, help us cast aside fear and doubt so that we can share joy in the variation and diversity of your Creation.
God of love, remind us that every being is created in your image, and that all deserve love and safety, and to be able to live as you made them.
Almighty God, bless your Creation, filled with colour, shape, motion, and all manner of diversity. Give us the faith and courage to protect the world created in your image. We give these prayers to you through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
