KCC's 25th Anniversary Celebration :)
Hello!
If you’ve received this letter, you were once part of the Kawartha Community Church family — and we’re so glad you were.
This year we are celebrating our 25th anniversary, and we would love for you to join us as we look back with gratitude on all God has done and look forward with excitement to the next 25 years.
Kawartha Community Church has always been a little different. Instead of owning a building, we chose partnership — especially with Sir Sanford Fleming College. For 25 years we have been reaching people who don’t yet know Jesus and helping believers grow in their faith, all while staying deeply connected to our community.
Because we don’t have our own facility, we’ve learned to express the love of Christ in practical, everyday ways. That choice has kept our hearts tender and our eyes open to the real needs around us.
When COVID left us temporarily homeless, Christian Victory Church graciously opened their doors and let us use their basement. We will always be grateful for their kindness. Then, near the end of the pandemic, the Student Administrative Council at the college called us and asked us to return. They needed our help again with the student food bank.
So, we made a beautiful new partnership: we use their facilities for free in exchange for regular donations of money and groceries. We store our equipment on site, build relationships with students and staff, and get to serve right in the heart of the campus. This arrangement has been one of God’s sweetest provisions for us.
We believe there is nothing wrong with a church owning a building — it’s a great blessing for many. But God has clearly led us down a different path: investing first in people, ministry, and mission rather than property. And He has honoured that decision in remarkable ways.
One of the most exciting developments in recent years has been our growing ministry with international students, especially from Nigeria and India. These wonderful brothers and sisters value community deeply, and many have joined us in worship. In the past 12 months alone, we have seen 11 people come to faith in Jesus Christ — a true highlight of our ministry and a powerful answer to years of prayer.
We would be honoured if you would help us celebrate this milestone in two meaningful ways:
1. Come to our 25th Anniversary Celebration
Date: Saturday, November 8th
Time: 6:30 PM
Place: Christian Victory Church, 520 Brealey Drive, Peterborough We’ll enjoy desserts, a special time of worship, stories of God’s faithfulness, and great fellowship. Whether you’ve been with us recently or many years ago, you are warmly invited. This is a family reunion of sorts, and we’d love to see you there.
Please rsvp to [email protected]
2. Help us step boldly into the next 25 years
We’ve prayerfully set a goal of raising $25,000 to invest in missions, strengthen and expand our staff, and reach even more people for Christ. You are under no obligation, but if the Lord stirs your heart to partner with us, here are easy ways to give:
• E-transfer: [email protected]
• Mail: Kawartha Community Church, 444 Howden Street, Peterborough, ON K9J 4B3. Please make the cheque out to Kawartha Community Church and mark, “Make it Reign” on the information line of the cheque.
• Through Canada Helps (Canadahelps.org)
Please include your mailing address with any gift so we can send you a charitable receipt. Our charity number is 872568514RR0001.
Will you celebrate with us? Will you help us write the next chapter of what God is doing at Kawartha?
We want to say a heartfelt thank you. This church would not exist without the prayers, faithfulness, and generosity of people like you. Even if you’ve moved on to another congregation, you are still part of our story, and we are grateful.
We pray God’s richest blessings over you and your family.
With gratitude,
Our Staff, Pastor Scott, Christa, Jon, Jodi,
and the Ministry Administration Team, Donna, Jeff and Jannette
and all the people of Kawartha Community Church
