On June 7th, Bruno William Wiskel passed away peacefully at the age of 95, after living a truly wonderful life.
He will be dearly missed by Anne (Thomson), his loving wife and companion of 73 years. Together, they shared a love story and partnership that shaped their family in so many ways. Bruno also leaves behind his four children, Stuart (Catherine), Alison, Nancy, and David (Colleen); his four grandchildren, Mitchell (Lyndsay), Greg (Carly), Barry (Michaela), and Steven; and his three great-granddaughters, Hailey, Hannah, and Sophie.

Right until the end, Bruno kept his wry sense of humor, his love of sweets, and his competitive spirit – especially when there was a deck of cards involved. As a family, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived, the memories we shared, and the example he set for all of us.

To Bruno, life was a wonderful adventure.

Born to immigrant parents from Lithuania, Bruno grew up on a farm in a small town in northern Alberta with his brother, Stan. When he began school in a one-room schoolhouse, he spoke no English. From those humble beginnings, he went on to graduate from the University of Alberta with a degree in Chemical Engineering.

His first job took him to Arvida, Quebec, where he worked for the Aluminum Company of Canada. It was there, as a summer student, that he met Anne. What began as a friendship soon grew into a romance, and together they built a life filled with family, travel, curiosity, and love.

Bruno had a deep enthusiasm for the world around him. His interests were many: sports, history, carpentry, birding, gardening, and, in retirement, even Thai cooking. His work took him to many corners of the globe, always with his family by his side.

A private family service will be held, followed by interment at Highland Park Cemetery.
