Please share widely: 🕊️ Compassion Calls Us to Act — Before December 5th 🕊️
💬 “I never thought I’d have to fight for this. But here I am, writing to my MP, because someone I love is struggling — and they deserve care, not a quiet exit.”

This is the heart of Bill C-218, introduced by the MP for Cloverdale–Langley City. It seeks to amend the Criminal Code to exclude mental illness from eligibility for medical assistance in dying (MAiD).

Why? Because Canada’s mental health system is under-resourced. Because suffering minds need healing, not permission to disappear. Because silence is not compassion.

📅 On December 5th, this bill faces its second reading in the House of Commons. If it fails, it dies there.

📣 We need every CWL member — and every Canadian — to speak up. 📞📧 Call, email, or write your MP today. Ask them to support Bill C-218. Your voice could save lives.

NOVEMBER 2
ALL SOULS DAY
We remember our loved ones and all the faithful departed.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let Your perpetual light shine upon them.
Amen.

✨ Remembering the Faithful Departed — The Meaning of All Souls Day

1. A Day of Loving Remembrance
Every year on November 2, the Catholic Church observes All Souls Day, a solemn feast dedicated to praying for all the faithful departed—our family members, friends, and all souls who have left this earthly life and await the joy of eternal rest. While All Saints Day (November 1) honors those already in heaven, All Souls Day is a moment of deep compassion and intercession for those still journeying through purification before entering God’s presence.

2. The Communion of Saints
The Church teaches the beautiful mystery of the Communion of Saints—a spiritual bond uniting the faithful on earth, the souls in purgatory, and the saints in heaven. On this day, we are reminded that love transcends death. Our prayers, Mass offerings, and acts of charity can help souls draw nearer to the light of Christ. This communion is an expression of faith that we are never separated from those who have gone before us; rather, we remain united in Christ’s eternal love.

3. The Power of Prayer and Hope
The prayer, “Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon them,” reflects our hope in God’s infinite mercy. It reminds us that death is not the end but a transformation into new life. Our prayers are acts of mercy and hope, lifting souls toward the fullness of God’s glory. Lighting candles, visiting cemeteries, and attending Holy Mass are common ways the faithful honor this day.

4. A Reflection for the Living
All Souls Day is also a gentle reminder to live with eternity in mind. Remembering the departed invites us to examine our own lives and to live each day with faith, love, and forgiveness. In the flame of a candle and the quietness of prayer, we find comfort knowing that our loved ones rest in God’s peace, awaiting the day when we will all be reunited.

5. A Prayerful Conclusion
May this All Souls Day inspire us to renew our faith in the Resurrection. As we pray for the dead, let us trust in God’s promise: “I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me will live, even though he dies” (John 11:25).

BEGIN November WITH PRAYER

Thank you Lord for this new wonderful month. I am glad that I am alive and well.
Please protect me and my family from all troubles.
Bless us with your sweet blessings in all areas of our lives.
Guard our hearts for your kingdom.
I pray for your will in my life.
Refresh me and fill me with your abundance.
In Jesus name, Amen.

🌅 Begin November with Prayer

As we step into the month of November, our hearts are invited to pause and give thanks — not only for what has been, but for what is yet to come. The beauty of a new month reminds us that every sunrise is a renewed gift of grace, every breath a quiet testimony of God’s sustaining love.

Prayer is the perfect way to begin this new chapter. It centers our hearts on God’s purpose, steadies us amid life’s uncertainties, and fills our spirits with peace and direction. When we start our days — and months — with prayer, we acknowledge that all our plans, hopes, and efforts are best entrusted to the One who knows us intimately and loves us completely.

In this season, we especially pray for protection, blessing, and abundance — not merely in material things, but in the richness of faith, love, and wisdom. We ask for God’s covering over our families, our work, and our dreams, trusting that He will guide us through both joy and challenge.

Let this November be a time of gratitude and renewed devotion. As we light candles, attend Mass, or whisper quiet prayers at home, may our hearts be drawn closer to God’s presence. Each prayer, however simple, is a seed of faith that blooms into peace and purpose.

So, take a moment — lift your heart to God and say,
“Thank you, Lord, for this new month. Walk with me and bless my path.”

May your November be filled with grace, hope, and divine abundance. ✨

The Month of NOVEMBER is dedicated to the HOLY SOULS in Purgatory.

🕯️ November – The Month of the Holy Souls in Purgatory

Each year, the Catholic Church dedicates the month of November to remembering and praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory — those who have died in God’s grace but still undergo purification before entering the fullness of Heaven. It is a sacred time when the faithful are invited to reflect on the mystery of life, death, and eternal hope.

A Month of Mercy and Intercession

The Church teaches that the souls in purgatory are assured of salvation but are still being cleansed of the effects of sin. Through our prayers, sacrifices, and acts of charity, we can help them on their journey toward eternal peace. This spiritual work of mercy reminds us of the deep communion that binds the Church on earth, in heaven, and in purgatory — the Communion of Saints.

Traditions of the Faithful

During this month, Catholics often attend special Masses for the dead, visit cemeteries, and light candles as symbols of remembrance and hope. The warm glow of a candle represents our prayers rising to heaven, and our love that continues beyond the veil of death. Many also recite the Eternal Rest Prayer:

“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.”

A Call to Compassion

Praying for the dead is an act of compassion and faith. It acknowledges the mercy of God and our belief in resurrection. As we remember the souls who await the vision of God, we are also reminded to live our own lives in grace, forgiveness, and hope.

Conclusion

November stands as a bridge between the temporal and the eternal — a time to recall those who have gone before us and to strengthen our own faith in the promise of everlasting life. In every whispered prayer and every flickering flame, we unite our hearts with theirs, trusting in the mercy of God who welcomes all into His everlasting light.

LET US ALSO REMEMBER OUR DEARLY DEPARTED POPES IN PRAYERS

🕯 Remembering Our Departed Popes in Prayer

The Church, in her deep wisdom and compassion, calls upon the faithful to pray for all souls who have departed this earthly life. Among them, we especially remember the Popes — the successors of Saint Peter — who guided the Church with faith, courage, and humility. These shepherds dedicated their lives to leading the faithful closer to Christ, often amidst trials, global changes, and moral challenges.

Each Pope leaves behind a legacy not only of leadership but also of prayer, service, and love for humanity. Their voices have echoed across generations, calling us to holiness, unity, and mercy. From Pope Pius XII to Pope John Paul I, from Pope Paul VI to Pope Benedict XVI, each has borne the cross of leadership with grace, leaving an indelible mark on the history of the Church.

As we gaze upon their faces surrounded by the gentle glow of candlelight, we are reminded of their steadfast devotion. The candles symbolize our prayers — small lights of hope and remembrance offered for their eternal rest. In praying for our departed Popes, we participate in the communion of saints, uniting heaven and earth in the bond of divine love.

Let us take a moment in this sacred month dedicated to the Holy Souls to whisper a prayer for them:

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.

Their spiritual fatherhood continues even beyond their earthly lives, for through prayer, their memory lives on — not in monuments or titles, but in the hearts of believers who remember them in love and faith.

We light this candle in memory of all the faithful departed.
May the warmth of its flame remind us of their love,
and may the light of Christ lead them into everlasting peace.

🕯️Light of Remembrance and Hope

The gentle glow of a candle has long symbolized faith, remembrance, and the enduring hope of eternal life. As we light this candle in memory of all the faithful departed, we are reminded that love never dies — it only transforms. The warmth of its flame echoes the affection and kindness once shared by those who have gone before us, a comforting sign that their presence lingers in the light of Christ.

In the Christian faith, this simple act of lighting a candle transcends tradition. It becomes a prayer, a bridge between earth and heaven. Each flicker of light represents a soul’s journey towards everlasting peace — purified, embraced, and renewed in divine mercy. It is also a call for the living to continue walking in faith, to cherish love over sorrow, and to trust in God’s promise of resurrection.

When we stand beside the grave or whisper a prayer for the departed, we are not alone. The communion of saints — those in heaven, those being purified, and those still on earth — remain united in one great act of love. The candle’s flame, fragile yet enduring, mirrors our faith: though the winds of life may blow, Christ’s light within us never fades.

So today, as this candle burns, let it remind us that every act of remembrance is an act of faith — and every soul remembered is a soul embraced in God’s eternal light.

May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

HOLY SAINTS IN HEAVEN, PRAY FOR US!

🌿 Holy Saints in Heaven, Pray for Us!

Every year on November 1st, the Church celebrates All Saints’ Day, honoring the countless men and women who have attained eternal life with God. The saints—known and unknown—serve as radiant examples of holiness, courage, and faithfulness. Their lives remind us that sanctity is not an abstract ideal but a calling that can be lived in every walk of life, whether through martyrdom, service, prayer, or love.

The Communion of Saints

The phrase “Holy Saints in Heaven, pray for us!” expresses one of the most beautiful mysteries of the Christian faith—the Communion of Saints. This belief affirms that the Church is not divided between heaven and earth but united in Christ. The saints, having completed their earthly journey, intercede for us before God, helping us grow closer to Him through their prayers and example.

They are not distant figures of the past but living witnesses of divine grace, forming a great “cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1) who inspire believers to persevere in faith despite life’s trials.

Models of Holiness

In this image, we see beloved figures such as Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Thérèse of Lisieux, St. Padre Pio, St. John Paul II, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and others who dedicated their lives to love and sacrifice. Each saint reflects a unique facet of God’s goodness:

Mary, the Queen of All Saints, embodies perfect obedience and humility.

St. Joseph teaches silent strength and faithful fatherhood.

St. Teresa of Calcutta shows mercy in action through love for the poorest.

St. John Paul II embodies courage, joy, and the dignity of every human life.

Blessed Carlo Acutis, one of the youngest modern blesseds, reminds us that holiness is possible even in the digital age.

Each of them proclaims through their lives that holiness is not limited to a chosen few—it is the universal call of every Christian.

Our Call to Holiness

All Saints’ Day is a celebration of hope. It reminds us that the path to heaven is open to all who follow Christ with sincerity. We, too, are called to be saints—through daily faithfulness, compassion, and perseverance in prayer.

By invoking the saints with the words “Pray for us!”, we seek their intercession to strengthen our faith and guide us toward a deeper relationship with God. They remind us that holiness is not perfection but faithful love in action.

Reflection Prayer

"Holy Saints in Heaven, you who have walked the path of faith before us,
intercede for us as we strive to follow Christ in our daily lives.
Help us to live with courage, compassion, and humility,
so that one day we may join you in eternal joy. Amen.”
