This week, Fr. Jerry will join the priests of the Diocese of Peterborough for their annual Priests’ Retreat.

A retreat is an important time of prayer, silence, reflection, and spiritual renewal. Just as we all need moments to step back from the busyness of life and reconnect with the Lord, priests too benefit from time set aside to pray, listen, reflect, and be renewed for the ministry entrusted to them.

Please keep Fr. Jerry, Bishop Miehm, and all of our diocesan priests in your prayers this week. Pray that this retreat may be a time of renewal, encouragement, and deeper closeness to Christ, so that they may continue serving God’s people with faithful and generous hearts.

Please be assured that our parish community, your families, and your intentions will be remembered in prayer throughout the retreat.

“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” (Mark 6:31)

June is traditionally dedicated to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Sacred Heart reminds us of something we all need to hear: we are deeply loved.

The heart of Jesus burns with steadfast and unfailing love for His people. It is a love that does not give up, grow weary, or turn away. His heart is full of mercy and compassion, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, always drawing us closer to Himself.

The Sacred Heart also reminds us that Christ’s love is never narrow or distant. His heart beats for all people. He meets us where we’re at, loves us as we are, and calls us to follow Him. Our Lord is madly in love with us, and He never stops opening His heart to us.

In a world that can sometimes feel rushed, divided, heavy or hurting, June invites us to remember this simple truth: Christ’s heart remains open for all people.

May this month be an opportunity to draw closer to the Lord, to rest in His mercy, and to place our trust once again in His loving Heart.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Today we celebrate Trinity Sunday, a mystery at the very heart of our faith.

We believe in one God in three Divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Distinct, yet perfectly united in love.
The Trinity reminds us that God is not distant, but a communion of love that invites us into relationship with Him and with one another.

May we grow in faith, unity, and love as we seek to live in the presence of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.

Have you prayed the Rosary this month?

May, the month traditionally dedicated to Our Blessed Mother, is almost over… but there is still time. As a parish, we are once again tracking how many Rosaries we pray together this year. Last year, our parish prayed an incredible 1,593 Rosaries. What a beautiful witness of faith and prayer!

If you have prayed a Rosary, be sure to add it to our Rosary Tracker. Let’s see how many Rosaries we can pray together as a parish this year. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.

Artificial intelligence is quickly changing our world. It’s reshaping how we work, communicate, learn, and even make decisions. So how do we make sure that, in the middle of all this change, we don’t lose sight of what it means to be human?

In his first encyclical, Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV reflects on exactly that question. At a time when algorithms, automation, and efficiency increasingly shape our world, he reminds us that technology should always remain at the service of the human person and never diminish human dignity.

This isn’t a document about fearing technology. It’s an invitation to think carefully about the future we’re building, and to make sure it remains deeply human.

If you’re looking for some thoughtful reading in the days ahead, this is well worth spending some time with. It's thoughtful, timely, and deeply relevant to the world we’re living in. “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
-John 20:22

At Pentecost, we celebrate more than a moment in history. We celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit alive and at work in us today. The Spirit came upon ordinary people and filled them with courage, purpose, and fire for mission. And maybe that is still what God wants to do in each of us.

This Pentecost, pray a simple prayer: Come, Holy Spirit. Help me become who You created me to be. Show me how to use the gifts You have given me to love, serve, encourage, and make a difference in the lives of others.

Pentecost reminds us that God does extraordinary things through ordinary people.

The Holy Spirit came upon frightened, uncertain disciples and gave them courage, purpose, and gifts to build up the Church and share hope with the world. That same Spirit is still at work today.

This weekend, as we celebrate Pentecost, we pray: Come, Holy Spirit. Help us discover our gifts, use them well, and become who God is calling us to be.

🔥 And don’t forget to wear red!

This Pentecost Sunday, the Church offers a beautiful spiritual gift: a Plenary Indulgence for the faithful who publicly pray or sing the ancient hymn Veni Creator Spiritus (“Come, Holy Spirit, Creator Blest”) on Pentecost, together with the usual conditions.

An indulgence is one of the beautiful ways the Church shares God’s mercy. A plenary indulgence is the full remission of the temporal effects of sin already forgiven, drawing us more deeply into God’s healing grace and love.

🌟 Veni Creator Spiritus (English Translation)
Come, Holy Spirit, Creator blest,
And in our souls take up Thy rest;
Come with Thy grace and heavenly aid,
And fill the hearts which Thou hast made.

To Thee, the Comforter, we cry,
To Thee, the Gift of God Most High;
The Fount of life, the Fire of love,
The soul’s Anointing from above.

The sevenfold gifts of grace are Thine,
O Finger of the Hand Divine;
Thou art the Promise of the Father,
Who dost the tongue with power imbue.

Kindle our senses with Thy light,
And make our hearts with love unite;
Strengthen our weakness by Thy power,
And drive all evil foes away.

Grant us through Thee to know the Father,
And know the Son, and Thee, His Spirit;
And may we evermore believe,
And in the Triune God confide.

Glory to God the Father be,
Glory to Christ, Who rose from the dead,
And to the Holy Paraclete,
Now and throughout eternity. Amen.

How can we receive this plenary indulgence on Pentecost?
🕊️ Publicly pray or sing the Veni Creator Spiritus (for example, at Mass, in church, or in a prayer gathering)
✝️ Receive Holy Communion
🙏 Celebrate the Sacrament of Confession (within about 20 days before or after)
❤️ Strive to be detached from sin and open to God’s grace
⛪ Pray for the intentions of the Holy Father

What a beautiful invitation this Pentecost to open our hearts more deeply to the Holy Spirit and to the mercy of God. Come, Holy Spirit!
