TRUTH HOLD
Confronting The Hard Issues of Today
Boldly Preaching The Gospel
Encouraging & Equipping Christians
Discerning & Holding To Truth of God's Word
Standing For Christ, Standing For Truth

OUR MISSION:
Our mission is to share the truth of God's Word and the Gospel with as many as possible. To encourage and equip those who believe, and to fulfill the Great Commission by showing the truth to

those who are dead in their trespasses. Our mission is to fulfill God's command as Christians to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. (Mark 16:15) We aim to confront all the hardest issues of today Biblically, looking at how Christians should respond to various circumstances in a God-glorifying way, aiming to be as discerning as we can be in all things! WHAT WE BELIEVE:
We believe there is only one true God (the triune God of the Bible - 3 persons; The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit, each one fully God) equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct yet harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. God is Creator, Sustainer, and Sovereign of the universe, having made all things in six literal days. He is infinite in every excellence, inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all possible honour, confidence, and love. We believe He Created the world in 6 literal days and rested on the 7th. There is only ONE God who lives and breathes, and that is the God of the Bible. THE HOLY SCRIPTURES:
We believe the Bible to be God's perfect, inerrant and infallible Word, and that He revealed all necessary for life in those 66 books. We believe all of Scripture was given by inspiration of God, and is complete, fully accurate, the truth, the final Authority, and only rule in all matters of faith and practice. JESUS CHRIST:
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, possessing all the essence and attributes of Deity, that He came into this world by miraculous virgin birth, receiving a human body and a real human nature yet unchangeably sinless, both God and man, that He lived a perfect life of righteousness and died an actual substitutionary sacrifice for His elect people, thus accomplishing propitiation, reconciliation, redemption, and atonement for them. Jesus rose bodily, visibly, and victoriously on the third day attesting to God’s acceptance of His sacrifice, He ascended into heaven and is enthroned in glory acting as our Intercessor, Great High Priest, and Advocate before the Father, and according to His promise He is coming again, personally and visibly to raise the dead, both righteous and unrighteous, and to judge all men by the eternal punishment of unbelievers and the everlasting
blessedness of the righteous. THE HOLY SPIRIT:
We believe in the personality and absolute Deity of the Holy Spirit. His relation to the unbelieving world is to restrain evil and to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgement. His work among believers is to regenerate, seal, indwell, comfort, pray, endue, teach, guide, and sanctify. MAN:
We believe that God made our first father Adam by direct creation (not by evolution) in the image of God, perfectly holy and upright, that he sinned and brought upon himself and all his offspring, guilt, condemnation, and death, incurring the wrath of God, thus fallen man is dead in trespasses and in sin, totally unable to keep God’s laws, to understand the Gospel, to repent of sin or trust in Christ apart from divine grace. SALVATION:
We believe that the salvation of man is divinely initiated and accomplished by the sovereign grace of God, wholly apart from the worth or works of man. It is the urgent duty of all sinners to repent and believe the Gospel and nothing prevents their salvation but their own inherent depravity and willful unbelief. However only those called by grace do believe in Christ as their only and all-sufficient Saviour and Lord, and by the instrument of faith are justified, their sins totally pardoned and the righteousness of Christ imputed to them, solely on the merits and finished work of Christ on the cross. Salvation is the free gift of God and is forever. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. (Romans 1:16)

SANCTIFICATION:
We believe that the progressive sanctification of the believer is a necessary fruit of true saving faith and distinguishes genuine faith from false or superficial profession. We are to grow in grace and in holiness and in the knowledge of God’s Word and will, and although our daily walk cannot alter our eternal destiny, it does affect our communion with God, the enjoyment of our salvation, and our usefulness to the church and to the lost. Through the Gospel and our union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, and the indwelling Spirit, we have all the means necessary for holy living, crucifying the flesh, and the putting on of Christ. THE LOCAL CHURCH:
We believe that the local church is a company of believers called together for the worship of God, the observance of the ordinances of believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Supper, the preaching of the Word, fellowship, prayer, and the evangelization of the lost. We acknowledge no head but Christ and no authority but His Word. The local church is autonomous, free from outside ecclesiastical control, and the government is vested in the body of believers who compose it. Its Scriptural officers are pastors or elders or bishops and deacons.

Romans 7:15-25
15
For what I am working out, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.
16
But if I do the very thing I do not want, I agree with the Law, that it is good.
17
So now, no longer am I the one working it out, but sin which dwells in me.
18
For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the working out of the good is not.
19
For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want.
20
But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one working it out, but sin which dwells in me.
21
I find then the principle that in me evil is present—in me who wants to do good.
22
For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man,
23
but I see a different law in my members, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a captive to the law of sin which is in my members.
24
Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from the body of this death?
25
Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

A very Merry Christmas to each and every one of you! :)

I hope you all have a great day and want to encourage you all to consider the greatest gift ever given, which was God the Father giving His only Son, Jesus Christ who willingly came down to our lowly level, taking on humanity while remaining truly God, to live the perfect human life none of us ever could, so He could die a perfect sacrificial death on a cross, taking the just wrath of God upon Himself that we deserve because God is holy and we have all fallen short and broken His good law and God cannot (like a good judge) let the guilty go without punishment.

But God provided a way in Christ on the cross to reconcile us to Him that if we repent (acknowledge and turn away from our sin, as it says in 1 John 1:9-10) and turn to Christ in saving faith, as it says in Romans 10:9-10 to believe in Him and that God raised Him from the dead (showing Christ had in fact conquered and defeated both sin and death) that we will be saved, given the free gift of grace and undeserved forgiveness (Ephesians 2:8-9) and given eternal life with Christ when we leave this world (John 3:16; Romans 6:23).

We are guilty sinners that should be owed condemnation, and yet God is so gracious, loving, and merciful that He provided an atonement in Christ, who is the ONLY hope any of us have, to be reconciled to God and made right with our Creator, so that God can legally dismiss us and grant us forgiveness by the blood Jesus Christ shed on the cross, not to continue in a life of sin but to walk in newness of life (see 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 6:1-14, John 3:1-21).

I hope you will hear me and my sincerity when I say there is literally NOTHING more important in this life than being made right with your Creator. Every second of our life is a gracious gift of God and postponed justice to give us every opportunity to repent and believe on Christ. There goes another second gone forever. Don't waste another moment, my friends!

Heed the warning of Hebrews 10:26-27 that says
26
For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,
27
but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries.

But also consider the great love and grace of God in John 3:16 that says
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

And in Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Consider also Isaiah 53.

I love each one of you and hope you will receive the greatest gift of all of human history in Jesus Christ! :) Again, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas with lots of love!

Matthew 1:23
"Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us."

Josh's Testimony:

On October 31, 2013 exactly 12 years ago at 11:30PM, I was sitting in bed listening to 'Awake and Alive' by Skillet. I had been living in utter rebellion to my Creator and cursing at anyone who tried to talk to me about the Gospel of Christ. I was the definition of a sinner loving their sin and wanting to be their own god.

But when the 2nd verse of 'Awake and Alive' played and the lyrics sung:
"I'm at war with the world 'cause I
Ain't never gonna sell my soul
I've already made up my mind
No matter what, I can't be bought or sold."

It was as if the hand of God slapped me across the face with a hard hit of reality, while at the same time reaching down from Heaven into my stone heart and turning it into a heart of flesh, ripping the scales off my eyes so I could behold the glory of Christ and the depths of my depravity.

I, like many people, thought I was a pretty good person (despite living against God). I always thought "at least I'm not like those people or those people, what they're doing is worse." But when I heard that 2nd Verse of Awake and Alive, and John (singer of Skillet) sang it (he himself being a follower of Christ), it was as if God (not audibly but thoughts in my mind that surely weren't from me) said something along the lines of: "You think you're better than others, but you are on the same side as them all, which is against Me, as an enemy of Mine."

I realized, unlike the members of Skillet, I was NOT at war with the world because I was OF the world. And I realized in that very moment that everything God has revealed about Himself in His Word (the Bible) were true and that I was very wrong and very much deserving of being sent to Hell, because I had sinned against a holy God and I was an utterly depraved sinner.

My prayer in that moment wasn't one of self preservation, but one of acceptance and agreement of God's standard as right and just. I prayed that if God sent me to Hell that very moment I knew it would be what He should do, and yet, I sought undeserved mercy and grace, throwing myself helplessly at His feet and asking undeservingly, that if He would so choose, to save me so that I could live for Him instead of being His enemy and living against Him. So my soul too would belong to Him and wouldn't be able to be bought or sold. That my life would be to His honor and glory.

Over these last 12 years, I have often failed Him, but He has never failed me. He has kept me and sanctified me more and more over the years. He has continued to conform me to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. No matter what, He has never given up on me. No matter what, He has kept drawing me and kept me thirsting of the Living Water that Christ is, and hungering for the Bread of Life that He is. I, like the Apostle Peter, have found myself saying "where else would I go? You have words of eternal life." (John 6:66-69).

Sin has become the enemy, and the Lord Jesus Christ has become my Redeemer, Savior, God, and Friend. There is nothing more precious and nothing I am more unworthy of. The Lord Jesus Christ who was once an offence to my sinful heart and conscience, is now my everything, and while I don't serve Him perfectly, my desire is for sin to diminish and Christ to increase (I must decrease and He must increase).

Words fail me. I could try for the rest of my life to express it, but it's ineffable. I am living proof of the miraculous hand of God. That isn't even going into all the times before my salvation that I should have been dead, and He preserved my life just so He could redeem my soul. While I have not physically seen my God and Savior (yet), there is nothing more real to me. The Lord Jesus Christ is literally EVERYTHING.

In the areas I have failed to be a faithful example to Christ over these years, I am deeply sorry, and I pray He will continue to grow me to be greater salt and light in this world while I am here, to live to His glory faithfully to His glory, because He deserves ALL THE GLORY.

To those maybe reading this who have not been what Jesus calls in John 3 "born again" (the transformation of becoming a follower of Christ not in word, but truly in the depths of your heart and soul through and through), please consider your own souls, repent, turn from your sin, admit and confess it before God, seek undeserved mercy and grace while it may be found (see Romans 10:9-10 and 1 John 1:9-10). Turn to Christ, because He is the only one who can save you with what He did on that cross and in His resurrection.

And as a side note, if the members of Skillet by chance ever see this, I hope God uses it to encourage and uplift you, knowing how He has used your music to convict and convert this wretched sinner. The 'RISE' album had released months prior, so I spent the first few months of my new life in Christ listening to that album a LOT.

As a bonus note, I didn't instantly go telling everyone I was a Christian. I was scared to say that and then go back to my old ways and just be a hypocrite and shame the name of Christ. The irony of that, was that itself was a massive sign of my new life in Christ. Why would I have cared about that if I were still my old self? My old self hated Him. My new self loved Him (even if imperfectly). Suddenly I wanted to read the Bible (like when your stomach hungers and you desire to eat, it was like my soul hungered and I needed to feed it through God's Word). Now when I read the Bible (and I had at various points in my life prior to) it was full of life, as if someone turned the light on. It was the craziest thing I had ever experienced. They were just words on paper before, but now they were alive and feeding my soul.

God is good. I could spend forever telling of how good He has been to me in countless ways over the years (and I am sure in even more ways I have failed to realize), but perhaps those are for another time. I cannot wait to see Him face to face, and thank Him immensely for all He has so graciously done for me, and to hold my Savior tight in utter thanks and worship. But perhaps I won't have the words and I'll all know to do is to fall at His feet. But while I am here, I pray I will continue to grow in faithfulness to glorify Him, denying myself, picking up my cross, and following Him daily (and if you are a fellow brother or sister in Christ, please pray for me to that end, that my life would be glorifying to Him to the very end, and I will pray for you).

To the Lord Jesus Christ be all the glory forever. Amen.

"Good and evil both increase at compound interest. That is why the little decisions you and I make every day are of such infinite importance. The smallest good act today is the capture of a strategic point from which, a few months later, you may be able to go on to victories you never dreamed of. An apparently trivial indulgence in lust or anger today is the loss of a ridge or railway line or bridgehead from which the enemy may launch an attack otherwise impossible."

"Pride can often be used to beat down the simpler vices. Teachers, in fact, often appeal to a boy's Pride, or, as they call it, his self-respect, to make him behave decently: many a man has overcome cowardice, or lust, or ill-temper by learning to think that they are beneath his dignity—that is, by Pride. The devil laughs. He is perfectly content to see you becoming chaste and brave and self-controlled provided, all the time, he is setting up in you the Dictatorship of Pride—just as he would be quite content to see your chilblains cured if he was allowed, in return, to give you cancer. For Pride is spiritual cancer: it eats up the very possibility of love, or contentment, or even common sense."

If you have never watched the film 'American Gospel: Christ Alone' then we strongly encourage you to do so! It is immensely needed, especially today, to help refocus on what the Gospel of Jesus Christ REALLY is and what it is NOT. It is also beautifully done and put together in ways that we trust will stir your heart and soul in so many different ways, as well as convict and edify. This is a 10/10 film and we highly recommend taking the time to watch it.

This may be the best part of ‘Mere Christianity’ by C.S. Lewis. It hits every nail on the head in the Christian’s war against sin. Not to be content in said sin, but also not to fall into despair upon failures. Depend on God and the sufficiency of Christ!

“We may, indeed, be sure that perfect chastity—like perfect charity—will not be attained by any merely human efforts. You must ask for God's help. Even when you have done so, it may seem to you for a long time that no help, or less help than you need, is being given. Never mind. After each failure, ask forgiveness, pick yourself up, and try again. Very often what God first helps us towards is not the virtue itself but just this power of always trying again. For however important chastity (or courage, or truthfulness, or any other virtue) may be, this process trains us in habits of the soul which are more important still. It cures our illusions about ourselves and teaches us to depend on God. We learn, on the one hand, that we cannot trust ourselves even in our best moments, and, on the other, that we need not despair even in our worst, for our failures are forgiven. The only fatal thing is to sit down content with anything less than perfection.”

“That is why the Christian is in a different position from other people who are trying to be good. They (other people) hope, by being good, to please God if there is one; or—if they think there is not—at least they hope to deserve approval from good men. But the Christian thinks any good he does comes from the Christ-life inside him. He does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us; just as the roof of a greenhouse does not attract the sun because it is bright, but becomes bright because the sun shines on it.”

This may be one of the most balanced and Biblically sound discussion on legalism VS antinomianism (the idea that the Christian since saved by grace is not obligated to obey God's commands) that we've ever heard. This was VERY well done and edifying!

"I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: "I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept His claim to be God." That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic—on a level with the man who says he is a poached egg—or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."
