The CornerStone House of Refuge Apostolic Church (CHORAC) held its first service in Ottawa on April 19, 1992 in rented facilities. Wilson as well as committed ministers and members this fellowship realized its vision of acquiring property at 1194 – 1196 Wellington Street West Ottawa, Ontario which was to reconstruct the House of God on September 9, 1994! uding some from other denominations, what were two theaters was transformed into a beautiful sanctuary dedicated to the worship of God. CHORAC continues to minister to the spiritual and material need of many and has consistently proclaimed the Lord Jesus Christ as the answer to all man’s needs. Our First Pastor
The first pastor of CHORAC was Suffragan Bishop Edgar C. He was baptized in the Name of Jesus on January 23, 1953; received the baptism of the Holy Ghost on August 7, 1960, and was ordained an Elder in August 1988. He received his Doctorate of Divinity in July 1996. His wife, Evangelist Dr. Nola Wilson, and their children helped in the establishment of this ministry. Pastor Wilson’s vision for this congregation was to realize the ideal of becoming “the Church in the heart of the city, with the people of this city in its heart;” through its ministries, programs and activities. In December of 2012, Suffragan Bishop Wilson retired from pastoral ministry and leaves a great legacy. Our New Pastor
On December 6, 2012, Elder Dr. Desmond A. Hutchinson was elected the new Pastor of CornerStone House of Refuge Church. He served as an Assistant Pastor since December 2009, where he and his family have been members since 1993. He is an ordained Elder of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, and has been since October 2005. Elder Hutchinson also served as the Director of Administration, a member of the Board of Trustees and in many other ministry capacities. Pastor Hutchinson’s official installation service took place on June 22, 2013 under the leadership of CDC Diocesan, Bishop Mark C. Pastor Hutchinson and his wife Missionary Andrea Hutchinson parent two boys, Marcus-Troy and Brandon-Todd. Together Pastor and First Lady Hutchinson are passionate for ministry and share a vision to see CHORAC rise to new heights in the Ottawa community and fulfill its mandate for the Kingdom of God. Pastor Hutchinson believes at CornerStone “Everyone is valued and their values are shared with others.”
