šŸ½ļø Fellowship & Potluck Lunch Following the service. This will be a summer finger food potluck, if you are able, bring a cold dish that can be shared.

šŸŽ A Special Parting Gift: The Memory Box The FELC council is collecting cards, notes, and photos to pack into a special memory box for Pr. Martin.

We would love for you to share your best wishes, a favorite story, or a special milestone/casual photo from over the years.

šŸ“ø How to submit your wishes and memories:

In-Person: Drop your cards, notes, or printed photos into the offering plate at the church by June 14. (We will also have a few postcards available at the back of the church if you want to write one there!)

Online: You can quickly record your memories digitally using our online form: https://forms.gle/ZppEr7JByejaaAjFA
These will be printed and tucked into the box. Deadline: July 13 at 8:00 PM.

Let’s come together to make this a beautiful and memorable send-off as Pastor Martin begins his next chapter! ā¤ļø

The forces of attraction

On the surface it doesn’t sound like good news. Jesus says, ā€œIt’s better that I go away, that I leave you, so that the Spirit can comeā€ (John 16:7). How’s that better? We know how the story goes. Jesus does leave his grieving disciples – in his death, resurrection and ascension. Through all these great acts of God, things are no longer the same afterwards for the disciples....

15 seconds – that’s all you need

Our response to others is often negative, if we are honest. We see something we don’t understand. (There is something wrong). We witness behavior that doesn’t fit with our ideas. (It’s not right). Someone says something we don’t agree with. (What is the world coming to?). No wonder judgement and negativity flourish in human community. And we are affected by it....

The link of love is never broken

Two-time Stanley Cup champion and Canadian, Adam Graves, spoke about team unity during his Cup-winning days in the 1990s. Playing a key role winning the Cup with the New York Rangers and Edmonton Oilers NHL hockey teams, Graves applied the valuable lessons he learned to his post-career community work. Numerous Stanley Cup-winning players and coaches frequently speak about the deep, collective belief in the bond of team unity required to win the Stanley Cup....

Funeral sermon for someone born on St Patrick’s Day

Every year around her birthday on St Patrick’s Day (March 17) Brenda joked with me that she is the leprechaun, which is probably height related. But she was also someone who was mischievous and playful. Looking at her picture posted here, you can see that playfulness if not a bit of mischief lurking behind her infectious smile. When you joke about leprechauns and a pot of gold waiting at the end of the rainbow, you not only smile but you look heavenward towards a possibility, a hope, and a dream....

The ā€˜F’-word

Stephen forgives his enemies just before he dies (Acts 7:55-60). His last words may sound familiar, because they echo the words Jesus spoke from the cross when he prayed to God ā€œto forgiveā€ those who crucified him (Luke 23:34). Forgiveness is a theme that runs at the heart of the New Testament text for this 5th Sunday of Easter, indeed throughout the Gospels....
