Centretown United Church is an historic church locate

d in Ottawa, Canada at 507 Bank Street at Argyle in the Centretown area. It was built in 1906 as the Stewarton Presbyterian Church under the architecture of Moses Chamberlain Edey, designer of Heritage site the Aberdeen Pavilion and the Daly Building. Centretown United Church is a member church of the United Church of Canada. The church was created on September 14, 2008 when McLeod-Stewarton United Church merged with Bell Street United. The building had previously been inhabited by McLeod-Stewarton. Centretown United Church is heavily involved with social programs in the community and abroad. The church often sends a youth delegation abroad on Habitat for Humanity trips. Located on the second floor of the building is Centre 507 which is an outreach centre providing food and clothing for the neighbourhoods homeless population. The position of minister is currently held by the Reverend David Illman-White and the Reverend David Sherwin.

Lacing Up for Our Neighbours: Join us on Sunday, October 4th, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM for the annual Centretown Churches Social Action Committee (CCSAC) Walkathon. We will gather and begin our walk at Canadian Martyrs Church on Main Street, following a 2 km or 4 km route along the Rideau Canal. This is a wonderful, family-friendly event, so please feel free to bring strollers and leashed dogs! 100% of all funds raised go directly to the Centretown Community Food Centre. Seaway Valley UCW Fellowship Day Tuesday September 8th, registration at 9:30 am
This event will be held at Johnstown United Church which is on the St. Lawrence River where Highways #2 and #16 meet. Registration is $15 which covers your morning snack and lunch. The speaker of the day will be Lori Chapman who will talk about her pilgrimage along the Camino do Santiago trail in Spain.

Saturday September 12th from 3-4:30 at Orleans United Church: "Then Let Us Sing".
Come and sing as we explore the songs of the United Church's new hymnal. Discover the story, faith and ethics behind these selections. Hosted by the Ottawa School of Theology and Spirituality. Led by Paul Sales. Cost by donation.

Coming events around Centretown:
Grief Support Program Knox United Church is offering a 6-week series that provides understanding and insight about the grief process, in a supportive setting. All are welcome. This series features Dr. Bill Webster's program "When Life Changes" Wednesdays September 16- October 21, 7-8:30 pm. Knox United Church, 25 Gibbard Avenue. There is no fee to attend. Healing Music Concert and Labyrinth Walk Saturday August 29th at 7 pm Bells Corners United Church. The concert features Debbie Danbrook on Shakuhachi flute and Ian Hepburn on harp. Tickets are $25 and are available at the door. Debbie is also having an evening of "Music Meditation and Rock Sculptures" a meditation at Remic Rapids, while walking around the rock sculptures by John Ceprano. This will take place on Sunday August 30th at 6:30 pm

Mark Your Calendars. CAFES Ottawa is holding a Mayoral Eco Debate here at Centretown United on Thursday September 17th. This will be a community event bringing together Ottawa's mayoral candidates to discuss environmental issues and give residents an opportunity to learn more about their platforms ahead of the municipal election. 6 pm doors open, event starts at 6:15.

Today’s Good Neighbour Spotlight: Laurie McKnight. Laurie is a retired United Church minister and longtime volunteer whose life has been dedicated to service, compassion, and community care. From opening her home to refugees and supporting newcomers, to volunteering with the Nepean Choir, gardening initiatives, local food support, and spiritual leadership, Laurie has quietly made a lasting difference in the lives of many.
