MISSION & SERVICE : SHARING

Compassion lies at the heart of generosity. From sharing food with those in need, to visiting a lonely neighbour, to financially supporting those in need in our local communities and around the world, the people of the United Church are committed to turning compassion into action.

In the last year alone, those who attend and support The United Church of Canada committed over $23 million to people in need and projects that matter.

How were we able to commit this much? It’s pretty basic. We share.

United Church people across the county join together to share what we can. We give to people and places in need through a unified fund called Mission and Service. Learn more about ways you can give, or make a donation at these links:

Thank you for the shout-out FAMSAC Food Cupboard

A massive shout out to Bells Corners United Church for collecting personal items to support FAMSAC. Thank you Peter for bringing the donations in.

LENTEN APPEAL

This year, the Lenten Appeal for Service, Outreach and Social Action Committee will go to FAMSAC Food Cupboard. We are collecting personnel items that are not usually donated to the Food Back including:

Dishwashing soap
Paper towels
Shampoo
Toothpaste
Toothbrush
Body wash
Bar soap
Deodorant
Shaving Lotion
Disposable razors
Baby formula
Diapers
Kotex pads
Tampons
Toilet paper
Incontinent supplies
Gently used clothing

There will be a box placed in the narthex (room in front of the sanctuary) from 22 February until 5 April Easter Sunday.

The Sunday School has helped to make a poster, which will be on the Bulletin Board. The children will keep count of the number of each item we collect every Sunday.

The Global Outreach Committee is excited to share that great progress is being made in Chipembi on the building of the Girls’ Dormitory. It’s amazing to think that all of this construction is done completely by hand - not a machine in sight. Thanks to your generosity and support of our fundraising activities we were able to send another $5000 this week to keep the project going.
