Most Holy Trinity
“God sent His only-begotten Son in order that the world might be saved through Him.” — John 3:17

The Eternal Godhead
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Blessed Trinity, one of the greatest Feasts of our faith. The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches: “The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in Himself. It is, therefore, the source of all the other mysteries of faith, the light that enlightens them. It is the most fundamental and essential teaching in the ‘hierarchy of the truths of faith.”’ (CCC No. 234)

Moses in today’s First Reading reminds the Israelites, as he reminds us, that this great mystery of faith is God’s initiative. God chose to reveal Himself to us as He is: the One true God.

In God ’s Image
The Trinity is actually the most practical of all Christian doctrines, because it reveals the meaning of our life. We are created in God's image. Although we may not be able to fully understand the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, the Feast itself is a powerful reminder of who we are — that we are made in the image and likeness of God, and are called to imitate the love, communion, unity, oneness of the Trinity. As members of one family of God, we must live our lives in such a way that the love of the Trinity must be felt in our homes, in our parish community, in our society and indeed in our world. And so, our happiness, since we are created in His image, will flow from using our God-given gifts — life, talents, resources — to build up those around us.

Solemnity of Corpus Christi
Next Sunday is the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ. In the Sacrament of the Eucharist, Jesus gave us the greatest and the most sublime gift: the gift of Himself. This Feast offers us the opportunity to renew our appreciation of the Eucharist, and to witness to the power and immense love of God. To commemorate this great Feast, we shall have a Eucharistic procession immediately following the 11:00 am Mass. We will process around the city block while we pray for our city, conclude with prayers inside the church, followed by a light reception in the Hall. Please join us if you can to profess publicly our faith in the Eucharist, and to prayerful witness to the love of our Lord Jesus Christ for the world.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father, and the Communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all!

Fr. Paul
