Subject: Homecall of Cedric C. Pettigre
Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2021 12:43:08 -0400
Memo: To all members of the Presbytery of Ottawa, clerks of session within the bounds, the clerk of the Synod of Quebec and Eastern Ontario, clerks of neighbouring presbyteries, the clerk of the General Assembly, and the principal of Presbyterian College, Montreal
Sad for myself, for the presbytery, and for the wider church for our loss, but rejoicing for him and the church triumphant, I relay the news that Cedric C. Pettigrew, retired minister lately on the appendix to the roll of the Presbytery of Ottawa, is now at rest from his earthly labours in the service of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Following several weeks in hospital and in rehab, Cedric moved last week to the Barrhaven Manor, but was re-admitted to hospital last weekend. When I was able to visit this past Thursday, he was strong in spirit and conscious that his time on earth was drawing to completion. He passed into the Lord’s nearer presence early this morning, July 17, 2021.
At this time, per the family’s request, plans are for a private graveside service. Other arrangements are incomplete; a further announcement will follow in due course. Prayers of thanksgiving for the life and witness of Cedric Pettigrew and of intercession for comfort and strength for his family will be valued.
"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” (Revelation 14: 13, KJV)
In Christ’s service,
J. T. Hurd,
Clerk.
