For generations, First Nations children were taken from their families, communities and cultures through the Indian Residential School System rooted in forced assimilation and cultural elimination. As Chief Commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, the Honourable Murray Sinclair helped lead a historic process of truth-telling by listening to the experiences of thousands of Residential School Survivors across the country. In 2015, the Commission released the landmark TRC Final Report and its 94 Calls to Action to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of reconciliation. This National Indigenous History Month, we recognize the Honourable Murray Sinclair’s lifelong commitment to justice, truth, and reconciliation, and reaffirm our shared responsibility to continue advancing the Calls to Action.

In honour of Indigenous Peoples Month, we will be hosting a one-day Seeds of Reconciliation workshop in Winnipeg.

Seeds of Reconciliation offers an introduction to the Returning to Spirit approach to reconciliation. Through experiential learning, reflection, and conversation, participants are invited to explore reconciliation as something that begins within ourselves and is lived through our relationships with others.

Whether you are new to this work or looking for a place to begin again, Seeds provides an opportunity to pause, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversation.

Those in Winnipeg and surrounding areas are warmly invited to join us.
