I wonder how children develop a spiritual and religious language?

St. Matthew's is using the Godly Play program to do just that! Through storytelling of bible stories with purposely made material, children develop an understanding of the old and new testaments. The story is followed by a 'wondering time' when children reflect verbally on the story and through a response time through art and craft.

In May, children heard the Parable of the Good Samaritan, the Prophet Jonah and the Parable of the Deep Well. Pictures represent material and some children's responses to the stories.

Join us in June for the stories of Exodus and of the Ark and Flood at 10:30 am.

June is National Indigenous History Month.

This month, we honour the histories, cultures, knowledge, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

We also hold the harder truths. Reconciliation isn’t a statement, it’s ongoing work that asks us to listen, learn, and act. In Strong Roots, our new strategic plan, we mention: striving for right relations with Indigenous communities, and repairing harm in the systems youth navigate.

That work belongs to every month, not just June.

We’re grateful for the leadership and resilience of Indigenous Peoples, and we’re committed to continuing to learn alongside them. 🧡
