Ottawa Baha’is - Baha’is d’Ottawa A page created for Bahai's and friends in Ottawa to connect, communicate, and share.

In neighbourhoods across Ottawa, Bahá’ís and their friends are striving to build a community that weaves together both the material and spiritual necessities of life. Their efforts are inspired by Bahá’u’lláh, the most recent in the series of Divine Messengers sent by God to bring humanity to the next stage of its development

THE ONENESS OF HUMANITY - Is It More Than Just a Beautiful Idea?
Oneness doesn't mean sameness. It means belonging.
Imagine a family where everyone cared only about themselves.
No one shared.
No one forgave.
No one helped.
No one cared if another family member suffered.
How long would that family survive?
Now imagine a nation where every group lived only for itself.
Could that nation survive?
Now imagine our world.
Can civilization survive if every race, religion, culture, or nation thinks only of its own interests?
The Bahá'í teachings answer with a simple but profound truth:
Humanity is one family.
Oneness doesn't mean we are all the same.
It means that, despite our different races, cultures, languages, religions, and nations, we all belong to one human family.
Just as every member of a family is different yet deeply connected, humanity is diverse, yet interconnected. When one part of the human family suffers, sooner or later, we all feel the effects.
More than a century ago, Bahá'u'lláh wrote:
"The well-being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established."
— Bahá'u'lláh
Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá'u'lláh, Section CXVII
'Abdu'l-Bahá expanded on this vision:
"The spiritual brotherhood which is enkindled and established through the breaths of the Holy Spirit unites nations and removes the cause of warfare and strife. It transforms mankind into one great family and establishes the foundations of the oneness of humanity."
— 'Abdu'l-Bahá
The Promulgation of Universal Peace, Talk of April 11, 1912
Perhaps the oneness of humanity is not merely a beautiful idea.
Perhaps it is the next step in humanity's evolution.
What do you think?

"Praise be to the all-perceiving, the ever-abiding Lord Who, from a dewdrop out of the ocean of His grace, hath reared the firmament of existence, adorned it with the stars of knowledge, and admitted man into the lofty court of insight and understanding. This dewdrop, which is the Primal Word of God, is at times called the Water of Life, inasmuch as it quickeneth with the waters of knowledge them that have perished in the wilderness of ignorance."
