On Sundays at 5 pm we meet at the Elks Hall (8506-92 Ave, Osoyoos) to hear each other’s story and discover what we can learn from early Jesus followers who shared their own story in the Bible. First, it started with Dan and Sharon Williams, who were very familiar with Osoyoos and surrounding area from many years of visiting from the Coast. T

hey arrived with a sense of calling to grow a Spiritual community in the heart of this amazing region. The welcome from local churches and the townsfolk has been amazingβ€”for which Dan and Sharon say a heartfelt β€œThanks.” Dan and Sharon feel privileged to be here in this beautiful and historic setting, living out something they have been passionate about for over 40 years: the truth that God is a maker, and a key thing God makes is human beings who thrive in a truly loving community. Second, Wayside Crossing is starting to grow! There now is an initial group of Spiritual friends encouraging one another to engage with Life more deeply and teaming up together to bless the town and district in tangible ways. Finally, Wayside Crossing has been given a good start by a wider family of Jesus-followers all over B.C. referred to in shorthand as β€œthe Free Church.” The β€œfree” part refers to being free as a Spiritual community to follow God’s lead by the Word and Spirit. Our deep conviction is that the Spirit of Jesus has gifts to offer that can lead us to a fullness of Life and motivate us to dive in.

We are convinced that Life needs to be put into action by β€œblessing where you are planted.” We are privileged to be involved in several existing service projects in Osoyoos and district. Including:

- United Church Thrift Store
- Pioneer Garden Walkway
- Food Mesh and Osoyoos Food Bank

And more projects are being considered or coming on stream, where we hope to continue to inspire amazing volunteers in our community. For example:

- Field’s Edge: gathering and distributing donations of produce from our generous local farmers
- Performing Life: encouraging performing and other arts in Osoyoos and hosting visiting artists in cooperation with the local Arts Council
- Oasis Events: remarkable public talks over food and beverages
