We are saddened to share the passing of Brother Eugene Zahrabelny, a longtime former member of the Oshawa Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Although the Zahrabelny family moved away a number of years ago, we know there are many throughout the Oshawa Stake who will remember Eugene and his family with fondness.

What a special moment for the Sherlock families and the Bowmanville Ward! ❤️

Cousins Elder Jackson Sherlock and Sister Gabby Sherlock had the unique opportunity to open their mission calls together — and both are preparing to serve as full-time missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

🇵🇭 Elder Jackson Sherlock has been called to serve in the Philippines Cebu Mission, speaking Cebuano. He leaves November 20, 2026.

🇨🇦 Sister Gabby Sherlock has been called to serve in the Canada Calgary Mission and will begin her missionary service January 27, 2027.

Two cousins. Two different parts of the world. One shared desire to follow Jesus Christ and serve His beloved children.

We’re so excited for Jackson and Gabby as they prepare for these wonderful adventures of faith and service. Please join us in surrounding them with love, encouragement, and prayers as they prepare to go! ❤️

We are thrilled to welcome Elder Nathan LaFrance of the Pickering Ward home after faithfully serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Elder LaFrance returned home on July 29, 2026, after serving in the Honduras San Pedro Sula East Mission, where he shared the gospel in Spanish.

We are grateful for his dedicated service, the lives he touched, and the example of faith he has set. Welcome home, Elder LaFrance! We pray the Lord will continue to bless you as you begin this next chapter of your life.
