The growing number of Muslims in Durham Region primarily in its north part puts this responsibility on all the Muslims in general and those living in the region in particular to establish a Masjid. It will enable Muslims in this area to perform five time obligatory prayers & Jumu’ah as well as carry out other activities or A’amaal of the masjid such as education, dawah or inviting other Muslims as
well as not-yet Muslims to the way of Islam as shown by our final prophet Muhammad PBUH
By Allah’s help & community’s good response, we the “Active Volunteers from the Community (DREAM TEAM) have been able to make a purchase deal for 5.7 Acre land @ 1423 Thornton Road Pre-zoned appropriately for this purpose & close to all amenities. Immediate goal is to acquire this beautiful land with a small existing building that is ready-to-use for 5 times prayers. In the long term, with Allah’s permission & will, we would like to make full use of the size & zoning of the land. We intend to build a Jaami’a Masjid, a state of the art Islamic School &Education Centre including a library, Islamic sports complex and a Centre par excellence for Dawah (Inviting all to Islamic teachings by adopting and sharing Islamic way of life) as well as for healthy Islamic social activity for Muslims of Whitby, Oshawa, Courtice & Brooklin & other nearby towns in particular but for the entire Ummah in general.
