ELSC is a non-profit Spiritualist organization serving all people regardless of religious affiliation, race, colour, creed, gender or sexual orientation. About Us
The Eternal Life Spiritual Centre (ELSC) is an environment of love and fellowship providing spiritual nourishment through weekly Sunday Services, spiritual/psychic development classes, workshops, an

d seminars for the purpose of enhancing one’s natural potential. Eternal Life Spiritual Centre of the Spiritual Science Fellowship (ELSC of the SSF) welcomes persons from all religious traditions and walks of life. We are a non-profit, Spiritualist religious organization, which draws together the teachings of Spiritualism with other world religions that promote metaphysical thinking and healthful living for the development of the total person. with spiritual songs and prayer. There is a segment of spiritual healing known as laying-on-of-hands, which is enhanced by the musical accompaniment of a guitarist and a drummer. Guest speakers from various spiritual organizations and religious traditions are invited to serve our Centre from time to time. Invited and/or regular speakers offer Inspirational Talks relative to some aspect of Universal, Spiritual and/or Natural law. Messages from the World of Spirit are delivered by gifted Mediums as well as by dedicated student Mediums. Congregants are invited to socialize at the end of the Service over coffee and light refreshments. In August, 2009, the Eternal Life Spiritual Centre was affiliated with the Spiritual Science Fellowship (aka Spiritualist Yoga Fellowship) which is an interfaith member unit of the International Council of Community Churches; a member of the World Council of Churches, Geneva. Annual membership dues are ten dollars ($10.00) per person and runs from September 1st to August 31st. Membership with the Eternal Life Spiritual Centre is not required to attend Sunday services, however membership helps our Spiritual Centre in the following ways: 1) accounts for and provides a core group of people who will work together as a community to keep the Centre vital; 2) provides a probable base number to assist the Board of Directors when planning future events; and, 3) only members may attend ELSC sponsored workshops.

Today, we continue with our series on Letting Go based on the writings of Veronica Ray.

So many of us grew up in situations that weren't very positive. We may have been repeatedly chastised when we made a perceived error, or maybe we just couldn't get the encouragement we needed. Our feelings were not considered, let alone our opinions. We just didn't feel seen. So this led us to believw we always had to do everythng perfectly correct.

Perfectionism

"Many of us are never satisfied, particularly with ourselves. If we score a base hit, it should be a home run. If we get a part in a play, it should be the lead, it should be a better play, theatre, director...

We never let ourselves enjoy the good things in our lives when we only want great things. The trouble is, we can't think of anything we actually attain as great. There's always something better.

Our perfectionism robs us of the ability to appreciate every step along the path of our personal development and spiritual evolution.

One thing we can be sure of is that none of us will reach perfection in this life. Remembering this certainty can help us enjoy the pleasures and accomplishments of each day.

Affirmation: I release my perfectionism and open myself to all the things to be enjoyed in my life today.

Today, we start a weekly series on "Letting Go" based on some writings by Veronica Ray. She is a freelance writer and has authored 32 books on Goodreads.

We like to see ourselves as independent and strong, able to make our own decisions. Many of us believe we weaken when we need help so we put on a mask and pretend we're fine hoping it will go away. But we know in our hearts this only leads to more problems.

"Accepting Help

We are learning to take care of ourselves, to be more independent, and to trust ourselves and our higher power. But this doesn't mean we have to do everything alone. We can ask for and accept the help we need from others.

Sometimes we need to talk and someone can help us by listening. Sometimes we need the information or experience that another person can share with us. Sometimes we need to laugh, play, or just be with other people. There are many healthy ways people can help each other.

When we let go of our belief that we have to do it all alone, we become open to receiving help from others. Sometimes our Higher Power reaches out to us through them. No one can live our lives or solve our problems for us, but we can let go of our fears and mistrust, and accept the help we need."
