Redeemer City Church Orillia

Redeemer City Church Orillia Welcome to Redeemer City Church meeting at 113 Simcoe Street, Orillia, Sundays at 10am. All welcome! We are Redeemer City.

In 2012, driven by a passion for mission and leadership development, Cornerstone Baptist Church (then operating as First Baptist Church, Orillia) planted a worship gathering in the South Ward of Orillia. Every local church operates under the same mandate. Before his ascension, Jesus commanded his church:

All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples

of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20 ESV)

While we are engaged with the same mission, every church approaches that mission in the unique locations and with the particular skill sets that God has entrusted to them. There are four distinctives that we hope you will see as you come to know our church family. First and foremost, we unashamedly preach the Bible. We believe that the Spirit of God uses the word of God in the people of God to magnify the Son of God to the glory of God. Said differently, we genuinely believe that the proclamation of the word of God will change the world! Second, we were planted with local mission in our DNA. We are driven with a passion to see God’s redeeming power at work in the city of Orillia, and particularly in the South Ward. Through annual evangelism training courses, focused prayer and door-to-door outreach, we strive to shine the light of the gospel in the neighbourhood in which God has placed us. Third, we are passionate about discipleship. As a church plant, we realized on day one that we would need to equip and engage every member of the body. On any given Sunday, you will see 12-year-olds serving on the worship team and 9-year-olds helping with tear down. We believe that every member has a function in the body of Christ, and we work hard to equip the saints for the work of ministry (Eph. 4:11-12). Finally, we are a group that genuinely loves one another. While I am mindful that this love is not unique to our congregation, it certainly feels as if this fruit of the Spirit grows more effortlessly in our midst than some of the other fruits. We have been through some difficult seasons as a congregation. I believe that God has used those trials to firmly cement in our hearts that we genuinely need to lean on one another if we are going to stand for Christ in this fallen world. There is more to us than these four points communicate, but I think this is a fair snapshot of who God has made us to be thus far at Redeemer City Church. We hope and pray that, wherever God leads you, you will find a community of faith in which you are enabled to grow in your walk with the Lord, equipped to share the hope that you have, enfolded into a loving community, and enraptured by a deep and authentic love and adoration for our great God. If God sees fit to add you into the community at Redeemer, we look forward to running the race together with you.

Day 4 at Camp Redeemer ❤️

Today looked a little different. Because of worsening air quality from the forest fires, we moved camp indoors to keep everyone safe. While we missed being outside, it certainly didn’t stop the fun!

Our adventures continued as Miriam, Moses’ sister, stopped by to visit. We even launched the drone to search the gym for Shelbert the Turtle… but we’re becoming more and more convinced he’s been secretly traveling back and forth to ancient Egypt on our special guests! 🐢⏳ We have a feeling we’ll finally uncover the truth by the end of the week…

Some of today’s highlights included:

🏆 Warden Keith crowned the Deer Cabin our Cleanest Cabin!
💪 An impromptu push-up competition broke out among the campers.
📖 We continued learning our memory passage, Exodus 20:2-17, and the kids are doing an incredible job hiding God’s Word in their hearts.
🤝 Small groups were full of thoughtful questions, meaningful conversations, and growing friendships.
🎉 And of course, there were plenty of games, laughter, and energy all day long!

But the greatest highlight of the day wasn’t a game or a mystery.

Today, many children responded to the Gospel after hearing a clear presentation from Miss Jil and our amazing cabin leaders. There is no greater joy than seeing young hearts place their trust in Jesus. Please continue praying for these children, that the seeds planted this week would continue to grow and that they would walk with Christ for the rest of their lives. ❤️

🎵 Be sure to turn the volume on at the end of this video to hear one of our favourite Camp Redeemer songs, “Our Redeemer Lives,” written by Miss Chelsea with instrumentation by Justin Oliver.

One fun fact about Camp Redeemer: we write our own curriculum and record our own original worship songs so that every lesson and every lyric points our children to the truth of God’s Word.

We can’t wait to see how God finishes this incredible week!!!

Day 3 at Camp Redeemer was full of surprises, Scripture, singing, and a little bit of time-travel trouble! 🏕️⏳

Somehow, we managed to bring Ranifer the Magician back from the past… but Shelbert the Turtle is still missing! 🐢 Our best guess is that he may still be wandering around ancient Egypt. Hopefully he hasn’t challenged Pharaoh to a race! 👀

We had some hazy weather today because of the forest fires, but we were so thankful that conditions allowed us to safely enjoy much of our day outside together.

Today we also:

📖 Learned more about the Exodus with Miss Jil
🏆 Celebrated the Squirrels being named Cleanest Cabin by Warden Keith
🪨 Made Ten Commandment tablets during crafts
🦉 Continued working on our owl spinners
🎶 Learned even more of our memory verse and sang it out SO loudly
🎂 Celebrated one special camper as Miss Chelsea sang a very happy, happy birthday!

It has been such a joy hearing the kids sing God’s Word, watching them grow in their understanding of the Bible, praying with kids for salvation, and seeing friendships deepen throughout the week. We are so thankful for every leader who is helping make Camp Redeemer such a special place.

Please keep praying that the truth of God’s Word would take root in every camper’s heart and that they would know our faithful God is the One who rescues, leads, and delivers His people. ❤️

Now… has anyone seen a turtle wearing ancient Egyptian clothing? 🐢
