."Whether you’re an elder Millennial who identifies more with Gen X or a ’90s baby who feels caught in between Gen Y and Gen Z" this info applies to us all - no cap.
As a Gen X who was raised in a household where I was passed the envelope to put in the basket or a crisp bill when we were visiting a different Parish every weekend due to sports - the familiarity of weekly giving to the Church was ingrained.
As church secretary and keeper of the church funds, I see our Silent Generation passing and our Baby Boomers moving from our congregation - to be closer to the grandkids, to be closer to doctors in the city, and sometimes into retirement communities and assisted living in different towns and cities. These Baby Boomers will forever be diligent contributors to the church, but sometimes the location of the church might change.
Weekly giving isn't something the Catholic Church talks about, we aren't known for creating an expectation of giving a certain percentage of your income to tithing as some Churches might, but one can assume, it is a necessary component of keeping our doors open, our lights on and our Vacation Bible School running. As we see our Baby Boomers moving on, it is important that our Millennials and up and coming Gen Z's discover this habit. I encourage you to think about the importance of the Church in your lives - the future of the church in your kid's lives. We are a generation that are always on the go - kids in activities - dance, gymnastics, hockey , soccer, girl guides, baseball, air cadets, you name it. We find the time, the money to support these things, so I encourage you to consider adding the Church to your monthly priorities.
