Dear Friends, heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our Homecoming Service today. Your presence, prayers, fellowship, and support made this annual gathering a truly meaningful celebration of faith, remembrance, and community. We are especially grateful to all who worked behind the scenes to prepare the lunch and take care of the many details that helped make the day such a success. Your generosity, hospitality, and dedication are deeply appreciated. A special word of thanks to Archdeacon Carrie for joining us and for sharing an inspiring and thoughtful homily. Your presence among us was a blessing and an encouragement to our parish family.
A world of gratitude to St Stephen’s Cemetery Board Members. May God bless each of you for your contributions, your service, and your commitment to our church community and our Cemetery. Thank you for helping make this Homecoming celebration a joyful and memorable occasion.
With gratitude,
The Rev’d Fr. Hilton Gomes
Rector

Today is World Environment Day. We give thanks for the appointment of the Most Revd Marinez Rosa dos Santos Bassotto, Primate of Brazil and Bishop of the Amazon, as Chair of the Anglican Communion Environmental Network (ACEN).

Archbishop Marinez, who is well known for her advocacy for the natural world and for Indigenous peoples and traditional communities in the Amazon, will attend ACC-19 as both Primate of Igreja Episcopal Anglicana do Brasil and Chair of ACEN.

Reflecting on her appointment, Archbishop Marinez said:

‘Churches cannot be mere observers of the climate crisis; we must be bridges for dialogue and agents of change.’

A Prayer for an Alpha Holy Spirit Day

Gracious and loving God,
Your gather today with open hearts, grateful for this opportunity to pause, listen, and seek your presence among us. As we enter this Holy Spirit Day, we pray that you would pour out your Spirit afresh upon each person gathered at St Stephen’s.

Come, Holy Spirit, and fill us with your peace where there is anxiety, your hope where there is uncertainty, and your love where there is longing. Open our minds to understand your truth, our hearts to receive your grace, and our lives to respond to your call.

Renew us in faith, strengthen us in discipleship, and draw us ever closer to Jesus Christ. Break down anything that separates us from you and from one another. Inspire us with your gifts, guide us in your wisdom, and empower us to serve with joy and compassion.

May this day be a time of encounter, transformation, and blessing. May we leave this place knowing more deeply that we are loved by you, called by you, and equipped by your Spirit for the work you have prepared for us.

We ask all these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.
