About the Project
The Muslim Association of Milton (MAM) is undertaking a significant community project: the construction of Thompson Masjid, a new place of worship serving the growing Muslim community in the Halton Region. This involves converting an existing residential property into a full assembly-occupancy Masjid, with complete interior redevelopment, exterior landscaping, and new parking.
We are seeking an experienced and people-oriented Project Manager to lead this project from start to finish — someone who brings structure, clear communication, and genuine care to a community-driven build.
Your Role
As Project Manager, you will be the primary point of contact between MAM, contractors, design consultants, and the municipality. You will guide the project through every phase — from planning and permits through to construction and final occupancy — while keeping the Owner informed and in control at every step.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Pre-Construction
• Review architectural, structural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) drawings
• Lead the tendering process — prepare scopes of work, issue tenders, and provide contractor recommendations
• Develop cost estimates and a construction schedule with clear milestones
• Coordinate building permit submissions and regulatory filings under the 2024 Ontario Building Code
During Construction
• Conduct regular site visits and serve as the Owner’s single point of contact
• Coordinate all contractors, sub-trades, consultants, and inspections
• Manage change orders — no extras proceed without written Owner approval
• Review contractor invoices before submission and keep the project on budget
• Ensure compliance with Ontario health and safety regulations (OHSA, O. Reg. 213/91)
• Provide clear monthly progress reports covering schedule, budget, and any risks
Project Close-Out
• Lead deficiency walkthroughs and prepare written punch lists with deadlines
• Coordinate final inspections to obtain the Occupancy Permit
• Collect and organize all warranties, manuals, and close-out documentation
What we’re looking for
Required:
• 5+ years managing ICI (Institutional, Commercial, or Industrial) construction projects in Ontario
• Experience with institutional or assembly-occupancy buildings is an asset
• Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (2024), OHSA, and related construction regulations
• Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and multiple contractors at once
• Strong communication skills with both technical teams and community stakeholders
Preferred Certifications
• Gold Seal Certification (GSC / CCA)
• PMP — Project Management Professional
• CET — Certified Engineering Technologist (OACETT)
• WHMIS 2015 and Working at Heights
