After fifteen years as our parish priest, it is with a myriad of emotions that we inform you of Der Myron’s upcoming departure on June 7th, 2026, as he embarks on a new assignment at the Diocese of the Armenian Church in Montreal, QC. While we are truly saddened by his reassignment, we are also excited for him and the opportunities and new challenges that await him as he begins this next chapter in his ministry to support the Armenian Church within the Diocese of Canada.
Our spiritual guide or Hokevor Hoviv, Der Myron’s arrival to our parish fifteen years ago, marked the beginning of a period of greater stability and growth for the St. Vartan community. His focus on the youth helped to grow the St. Vartan annual summer camp, drawing many young families throughout our region. A community builder and ambassador, he also supported a number of cultural events, activities and initiatives that highlighted the Armenian community and brought people together. From the establishment of the Halton-Peel Armenian Business Network, a forum for Armenian entrepreneurs and business leaders to network, to our annual participation in Carassauga, Canada’s largest multicultural festival that allows the community an opportunity to share our rich culture and heritage with the world, Der Myron’s commitment to promote and grow the St. Vartan Parish community will continue to resonate for years to come.
Please join us on Sunday, June 7th at St. Cuthbert Anglican Church in Oakville to celebrate the Divine Liturgy, express our sincere gratitude to his great contribution to the St. Vartan Armenian Church community and convey our best wishes to Der Myron as he embarks on this new journey in his priestly ministry.
