We are excited to announce a new ministry certificate and bachelor’s degree concentration in chaplaincy! If you feel the Lord calling you to the unique role of chaplain, our online ministry courses can help prepare you for your God-given mission.

What is a Chaplain?
It has been said that all chaplains are pastors, but not all pastors are called to be chaplains. While the two positions share many similarities, the major difference is that chaplains serve outside of the church. Chaplaincy is a ministry that meets people where they are. It is a ministry of presence that brings comfort and encouragement in a wide variety of settings and situations.

Benefits of Chaplaincy
There are many perks to becoming a chaplain. This ministry path offers an array of possibilities when it comes to where and how you can serve those in need of pastoral care.

Minister in Diverse Settings – Chaplains can choose from a variety of work environments such as hospitals, prisons, schools or the military. That means you can offer comfort to the sick, hope to the hopeless, wisdom for the future and courage in the face of fear.
Stay Local or Go Abroad – If you want to see the world, chaplains are needed around the globe. If you have established roots and would like to stay in your current community, it is likely there are chaplaincy opportunities right where you live.
Officiate Ceremonies – Chaplains are ordained ministers, which means you can perform weddings and funerals. This opens up the option for a “side gig,” allowing you to serve even more people in your sphere of influence.
Meet Incredible Individuals – Chaplaincy will connect you with all sorts of unique people from various cultures and backgrounds. As you bring hope and healing to those who are hurting, you will be inspired by their stories and have the opportunity to see God move in their lives.

Is Chaplaincy Right for You?
Chaplaincy is best suited for those who have a passion to “carry each other’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). Chaplains are most often summoned during difficult situations that require a great deal of emotional strength and compassion. This ministry role calls for a calm and caring presence in the midst of adversity. People will be looking to you for peace in their time of crisis.

I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
Psalm 3:5-6.

Psalm 4:8, "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: For thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety."

Psalm 127:22 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

One of the beautiful revelations of Scripture is that sleep is a gift of God for those He loves. David found himself under tremendous pressures, surrounded by enemies on every side, his very life threatened. He speaks of "tens of thousands drawn up against me on every side." Yet in the midst of it all he knows the blessedness of untroubled, restful sleep.
He gives two reasons: "Because the Lord sustains me" and again, "For you alone, 0 Zion, make me dwell in safety." His security depended solely on the Lord-not on circumstances, or on material provisions, or on the fragile promises of men, but on the eternal, unchanging promises of God's Word.

Each night David committed himself to the Lord. He lay down in confidence in the Lord. He knew that his soul was safe in the Lord's keeping. He could sleep and lie could awake without anxiety, without fear, without the torment of sleeplessness.

There are many today who do not have this blessed assurance. When nighttime comes, they are distressed, perplexed, fearful. The worries and cares of the day follow them into the night. If you are one of these, take a lesson from David. Recognize in God Himself your all-sufficient source of security and peace. Then accept by simple faith His love gift of sleep.

Blessing for You.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which
yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
Psalm 1:1-3
A word for today:
"Blessed"; the opening word of the Psalms contains the essence of all that is to follow. The blessings they unfold flow in two directions: from God to man, and from man back again to God.
David goes on to sum up the blessedness promised to man in one brief, expressive sentence:
"Whatever he does prospers." How can you be such a person blessed of God so that whatever you do prospers?
David lays down live conditions, the first three negative, the last two positive.
First, the negative: you must not walk in the counsel of the wicked; you must not stand in the way
of sinners; you must not sit in the seat of mockers. There is one decisive issue from where do you get
your counsel? The counsel you follow determines the course of your life. If your counsel comes from
the people who reject God's principles and flout His re (Juirements, you can have no claim upon His blessing.
Next, the positive: you must delight in the law of the Lord and you must meditate on it day and
night. The ultimate source of all wise and righteous counsel is the law of the Lord. If you fill your
heart and mind continually with His law, and if you direct your life according to it, then blessing and
prosperity are your God-appointed portion.
Perhaps you are weary of frustration and failure. Then take heed to these rules. Meditate on them.
Apply them. They will work in your life. God Himself guarantees you success.
