‘This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh. Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.’

Ezekiel 47:8-9

In Ezekiel's vision, living water becomes a powerful image of hope and renewal. The river flows into waters where little can live and brings an abundance of life.

This vision can speak powerfully into our own context, as rivers, wetlands, seas and oceans around the world face pollution, biodiversity loss and ecological degradation.

Let us pray

Creator God, from whom all life and every good gift flow, send your river of renewal to heal the scars of the Earth.

We acknowledge that we have not always treated your creation with the care and respect it deserves, or acted to protect it as we should.

Give us the wisdom, courage and will to safeguard the gift of creation and work for its renewal.

Amen.

Hi folks! My neighbour just made a great bear post, and I thought I would share it (with her permission;-), as a great start to the Season of Creation!

Hyperphagia, tiz the season for bears to fatten up for the winter months. They spend 22 hours a day foraging to consume the 20,000 calories per day needed at this time of year. Everything that smells is food to the bear this time of year, so bleach bottles, detergents, bird feeders, fruit trees, dirty BBQ's, etc, all attractants must be diligently managed. Leave vehicles empty of food or smellies and keep the doors shut on your homes too!

It's my (deacon Jenn's) favourite time of year! The Season of Creation begins today with the Feast of Creation in Christ and continues for the month, inviting us to reflect thoughtfully on our world and everything in it. To me, it is when we come close to Indigenous Spiritual thought in respect for nature and in thinking about and planning for future generations.
