When we believe in the goodness of all creation, and when we take seriously the church's ancient teaching about the incarnation - God is revealed in creation - then surely Spirit is working within the culture just as surely as Spirit is working within the church. At Lynn Valley Church, we look for goodness and wisdom in the world around us, seeing and celebrating the power of God's Spirit that bre

athes new life into troubled times. We join with people of all ages who want to rest their spirituality in a place that invites as many questions as it offers answers, living with respect in creation. And we seek partners with shared values who wish to remove from the world those things which are inconsistent with the goodness of all that has been created.

On Sunday, September 13 at 10:30am, we continue with our current worship series, “Come to the Table.” In the second week of this series, we'll explore how love is baked into the bread we break each time we gather in Jesus’ name, around God’s table. But we don’t need to save this love only for the times when we partake in the ritual of communion. We invoke love every day when we sit down at our community tables for events, meetings, and fun times with friends and church family, or even for difficult conversations with one another. On Sunday, join us for a festival of fun where we will hear about all the things happening in this community of faith!

Join us at LVUC for Sunday Service on September 6 at 10:30am! This week, we begin our new series “Come to the Table” as we gather together and celebrate at the table of hospitality. Jesus’ lesson at the last supper was clear: all are welcome to the table. Saints and strangers are included, even those who persecute and betray you. Jesus encourages us to follow in his way by offering a meal at God’s table for all.

Join us at LVUC for Sunday Service on August 30 at 10:30am! As summer gives way to autumn, many of us feel the shift: school begins, calendars fill, routines change, and new responsibilities call for our attention. In these moments, it is natural to carry both hope and anxiety about what lies ahead. This week, we gather to remember that God meets us in ordinary places and prepares us for every new season. Like Moses tending sheep in the wilderness, we may be surprised by God’s invitation to step forward—but we do not go alone. The God who calls us is present with us, leading our homes, our community, and our everyday lives on holy ground.

Harry Manx is in the house tonight at Lynn Valley United Church!

Currently touring across Canada, Manx makes his latest stop right here in Lynn Valley while he is touring his album Falling Upwards, a soulful jazz mix that puts his smooth vocals front and center, alongside his impressive skills on a range of guitars. Guests were treated to an evening filled with groove, soul, and magical music!

LVUC was honoured to host Manx and his team, and pleased to see some familiar faces in the crowd!

Join us at LVUC for Sunday Service on August 23 at 10:30am! As summer begins to wind down, we gather with all that we carry—our joys, our weariness, our questions, and our thirst for renewal. Psalm gives voice to that deep longing: “As a deer pants for flowing streams, so my soul thirsts for you, O God.” Today, we come to the Living Water, trusting that God sees our exhaustion and meets us with refreshment, hope, and a love that reaches the deepest places within us.

Join us at LVUC for Sunday Service on August 16 at 10:30am! This week, we gather around Jesus’ table as in Luke 14:1–14 and remember that God’s welcome reaches every body, every mind, every culture, and every generation. As we reflect on accessibility, disability, neurodiversity, and the beauty of our many languages and stories, we affirm that, in Christ, no one is “less than” and no one is left out. May this be a day to practice a wider welcome and to honour the diverse gifts that God has placed among us.

Join us at LVUC for worship this Sunday, August 9 at 10:30am we gather with a shared intention: to live more fully into what it means to welcome all. We will consider the question, what do we mean when we say “all are welcome”? How can we truly welcome everyone when we do not all share the same values. To welcome is more than opening a door; it is opening our hearts, our language, and our lives so that every person is seen, valued, and safe to be who they are. It asks us to move beyond tolerance into genuine celebration, to listen deeply, and to recognize the sacred worth in every story and identity. We will be looking at Romans 12:9-21 to explore this concept.
