UU Estrie - Unitarians and Universalists in the Eastern Townships

UU Estrie - Unitarians and Universalists in the Eastern Townships Reconnait la valeur et la dignité intrinsèques de toute personne depuis 1886

Affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every person since 1886

Imagine a religion that loves the questions and comes together to support each other in exploring many possible answers.UU ESTRIE is an active and engaging spiritual community established by Universalists in Québec's Eastern Townships in 1870 as a haven for religious freedom. Open to seekers of all faith traditions we gather together to support each other in designing a life of meaning, justice an

d connection. Among us are people with Jewish, Roman Catholic, and Protestant roots, as well as pagans, Buddhists, and those who might call themselves humanists or spiritual naturalists. What we hold in common is a radical belief that, in the words ascribed to a 16th century Unitarian founder, Francis David: "We need not think alike to love alike." To become involved in this open and welcoming spiritual community of seekers, come visit us! Services are Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m., followed by a lively Social Hour. Meet new friends and get involved in some of the community and interfaith outreach activities. Families are welcome! Bring your children for the opening chalice lighting, songs, joys and sorrows candles and story for all ages during the first third of our service. Children are then sung out to a program designed to encourage their own unique religious exploration and spiritual growth. One of the most radical things we can do is introduce good people to each other. If you are interested in how this community might fit into your life, if you have needs for spiritual support, or just wish to chat about "soul-matters", we invite you to contact our board of directors via email at [email protected]. We look forward to meeting you!

Mike brings a wealth of experience as a community organizer, Peace Corps volunteer, and cross-border community builder.

🗓 February 22nd at 10:30 AM
📍 UU Estrie
Free- as always

Join us this Sunday for a reflective and experiential service with Philippe Bouskéla:

Exploring the F.M. Alexander Technique and Vipassana in the context of UU Inspirations

How often do we truly notice what we are doing when we stand… or sit?

This reflection introduces the principles of the Alexander Technique — a practice that brings mindful awareness to habitual patterns of movement and posture — alongside Vipassana meditation, centered on attentive awareness of the breath.

At the heart of both approaches is observation as a non-judgmental act of curiosity: noticing what is present, just as it is, without trying to fix or modify it. Rather than doing differently, we are invited to pause habitual doing — to undo — and allow life’s own intelligence to unfold.

By turning toward simple, ordinary actions like standing and sitting, we open space for choice, freedom, ease, and presence.

To see or not to see.
To do or not to do.
To observe and to experience.

Philippe Bouskéla brings a lifelong passion for lived experience, with a background in theatre, dance, the Alexander Technique, massage therapy, and recent immersion in Vipassana practice.
