Nobleton & Schomberg United Churches

By Nancy Hopkinson

Our services are at 9:30 am for Schomberg United Church (held on the lower level of St. Mary Magdalene Church) and at 11:15 am at Nobleton United Church. Both congregations enjoy refreshments after the service.

We were saddened to hear about the sudden passing of our beloved Andy MacPherson. See Rod Abrams Funeral Home for details of visitation May 7 and funeral May 8.

Our next Messy Church is Mon. May 11 at 5 pm at Nobleton United. The activities and crafts (5-6 PM) are based on each month’s theme. The theme for May is “Feeding of the 5000”. At 6 pm, we have story time until 6:15 pm when we eat. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. One activity is always decorating a cookie in the theme of the day. Please let Nancy Hopkinson know (text 416-316-5064 or email [email protected]) if you would like to attend, as we need to have enough food for everyone.

The next Schomberg Senior's Luncheon is Tues., May 12 at 11:15 am at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Schomberg. The entertainment is “Through the Eyes of a Landscape Architect”. Mark Inglis, a designer and planner in parks, recreation and culture, will take us on vacation with him looking at cities of the world in a new light. Come prepared to contribute to this conversation. The meal is Mrs. Ingram’s Chicken (chicken with mushrooms & rice), spinach salad & fruit, buns, with rhubarb cake or crisp for dessert. Please RSVP with Sheila Kelly (905-939-2315 or 905-751-5190) if you plan to attend as space is limited. Although the meal is free, donations are appreciated to defray costs.

The Schomberg United Church Women meet on Thurs. May 14, at 1 pm at St. Mary Magdalene Church. Everyone is welcome to attend. The theme of hearing and discussing stories of Women in the Bible continues on the second Thursday of the month. Please bring a picture of your mother, if you can.

On Sun. May 31 at 11:15 am, there is a joint service at Nobleton (no service in Schomberg due to the fair) and baptisms of 4 of Sue and Gino DiFebo’s grandchildren.

The very last service to be held in Nobleton United’s building is Sunday June 21 (Father’s Day) at 11:15 am. This will be a special service of remembrance. There will be a lunch afterwards. The church building will be sold. The congregation will continue by amalgamating with another congregation.

On Wednesday mornings, we have a Zoom Coffee chat (10 am – 11 am). We talk on a huge variety of topics, mainly current events. You are welcome to join us. Just send me a message [email protected] to request the link.

Schomberg United Church meets at St. Mary Magdalene Church, lower level, 116 Church St., Schomberg. It is accessible. Nobleton United Church meets 6076 King Rd., Nobleton. It has a wheelchair ramp and a chair lift to go up the 7 steps to the Sanctuary. To contact our churches phone 905-859-3976.

In-person worships cancelled for Sunday, January 25th 2026 in Schomberg and Nobleton United Church.

After checking with a number of the folks from both Nobleton and Schomberg about travel in the expected snow storm today, we have decided to not gather in the sanctuary for worship.

We will have a live service on the internet, and everyone is invited to join us. As we are combining both Nobleton and Schomberg for this time online, we will begin the live service at 10:00 am. If you join us late, you can still watch the service, it will be ready to view as soon as we start going and you won't miss a thing.

You can join our service here:

Hope to see you all.

If you know of anyone who does not receive emails (or doesn't check them regularly) please let them know we will not be at the church this morning.

Grace and peace,
Rev. Richard Gardner
