Christian, you have inherited your name from Jesus Christ. In fact, you have inherited all things from Him; the King over kings, the Lord over lords. He will have us beginning to act like princes and princesses in His royal kingdom. We are to be children of light. We will worship Him who secured these blessings, whose death enacted the last will and testament of the Father, and who established His covenant with that very same death. We owe Him all loyalty and all gratitude – even our very lives. We can agree with Isaac Watts – “love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all".

Title: Hebrews 9:1-10 - "The Earthly Sanctuary"

The physical features of the tabernacle, and by extension, the temple, have given God’s people a glimpse into how the world is structured and into how redemptive history unfolds. The second curtain has hidden the second section; the Most Holy Place, for many years, reminding us both that God desires fellowship with His people, but that the time has not yet come. The cherubim are still blocking access to God. In Christ, this curtain is torn from top to bottom, showing us that we have not ascended to God, but that He has come down to us. The Most Holy Place is now open so that God and man, heaven and earth, the garden and the world can be reunited. The thunder and dread from the Holy of Holies has been satisfied and silenced by the Priest-King who gave His life as a sacrifice. The time of reformation is now here. Lay down your self-righteousness, your fig leaves, your curtain that you hide behind, and enter into the rest that God is freely offering.

Brothers and sisters, are you ever overwhelmed by the blessings that God has poured out upon you? Do you ever look at the life God has given you, and stop in wonder, and gratitude at the grace of God to you? Or do your troubles and reasons for discontentment dominate your thought life? Would you dare say to God that all your blessings are as nothing in comparison to this trial you are facing? That although He’s given you so much, you are unable to be happy, or grateful, because you lack this one thing… the resolution of this trial right now? This one little difficulty is enough to steal your joy…Discipline your minds. Discipline your thoughts. Cut off the grumbling. Cut off the murmuring. Memorize Psalm 23. Preach to yourself about the goodness of your shepherd. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
