The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him. Trust in God alone, he is our refuge and the only one who can remove our guilt and shame.

The kingship of Christ over all is a settled fact. Nothing and no one can ever usurp his throne. We live in Christ’s world and so His rule dictates the order of all things. The world has always been His by way of creation, yet now it is also His through redemption. Who can ascend the hill of the LORD? The God-man Jesus Christ. He is the only One who could make the climb up the mountain on His own merit, making a way for us into the very presence of God. Christ is the Creator, Redeemer, and King who is reconciling all things to Himself. The charge is first: to acknowledge that you are not your own. You live under Christ the King! So lift up the gates of your heart so that the King of glory may come in. Open the doors of your life to see His rule over every part of your life. Then when you have taken hold of the freedom found in Christ, you are able to truly enjoy God’s good creation with thankfulness, knowing every good gift is from above. “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God."

This is done through simple, faithful, and consistent proclamation of the gospel and obedience to the word. This week, look for ways to apply your faith in a manner that is worthy of imitation. As our faith is proven by our works, the joy of the Lord becomes our strength, and Christ is exalted for all to see.

There is only one way to live, and that is to live under the total lordship of Christ. We live in orientation to Jesus Christ, now enthroned, reigning with power for our salvation and the renewal of all things. He has already accomplished all that is needed. He is at the centre of all, above all, and the goal of all; He is the meaning of everything in the book of Hebrews. The tabernacle and the temple are about Him and His work. The priests and the ceremonies pointed to Him. The blood that was spilled day after day and year after year was about Him. The veil that was torn invites us into direct communion with Him. He is reigning as priest and king extending His reign on earth through His Spirit and through His church. All things are from Him, through Him, and to Him.
