Dear friends, as you know by now our brother Bishop Charlie Arthurson went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening. Bishop Charlie served Christ's church and this diocese for many years, beginning his ministry with us in La Ronge in 1983 and being elected in 1989 as a Suffragan Bishop of the diocese and first Indigenous bishop in the Anglican Church of Canada. He retired from that role in 2008 but many who knew him know that a bishop never really retires. Charlie was very active in the diocese from that point forward, particularly in Prince Albert where he took regular services of Holy Communion until very recently. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and we ask you to keep Charlie's wife Faye, daughter Devon, and son Ritchie in your prayers.

Bishop Charlie's funeral and Holy Communion will be held at St. Alban's Cathedral this Friday September 5th at 2:00 p.m. The service will be live-streamed (details to follow) and there will be overflow seating in the adjacent St. Alban's hall next door. A reception and tea will follow at Plaza 88 after the service.

We give thanks to God for the life and witness of this faithful servant. Rest eternal grant unto him O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him!
