Last year, our church elders asked me (Grace 👋) to choose a song to be played during the offering. I spent a lot of time thinking and praying about what would be the most fitting choice. There were several beautiful options, but ultimately I settled on “Take My Life.”
While the offering collected during a service is typically financial and helps support the church’s ministries, programs, building, and community outreach, I believe our offering to God should extend far beyond money. As believers, we are called to offer our whole selves to Him.
I love the lyrics of this song because they beautifully express that idea. They speak not only of giving what we have, but also of surrendering our lives, our moments, our time, and our talents to God, asking Him to use them for His glory rather than our own.
This is something I strive to live out in my own life—to honor God with the gifts, abilities, and opportunities He has given me. After all, everything I have comes from Him in the first place. Offering these things back to Him is both an act of worship and an expression of gratitude.
Even though I selected the song and we play it every Sunday, I am very grateful for the weekly reminder and I hope you are too.
