Good morning and welcome to worship in the Holland Marsh CRC!

Today’s passage recalls the story of two travelers on the way home from Jerusalem to Emmaus. They are downcast and lacking any hope. That hope had died on a cross. But Jesus walks along and joins them incognito and shares an alternative way of seeing the world. This passage challenges us to find Jesus in places we least expect, and there find hope afresh.

We belong to God because He has put His own name on us. We can finally stop trying to earn a smile that God has already given us by grace for the journey ahead. We should feel a deep sense of security as we realize that our Father is the one who keeps us safe in every wilderness we live in.
