5 members of Newcastle United Church today were blessed by our visit to the Islamic Centre of Bowmanville. A warm welcome, delicious food and a thoughtful message were all a part of their annual open house. It is good to get to know our neighbours and to grow in mutual understanding and respect. Worship at Newcastle United Church is at 10:30 am tomorrow. All are welcome!

Tomorrow’s worship theme will explore basics of the Christian faith. And if you are starting to make fall plans, mark your calendar for the “Blessing of the Backpacks” service on September 20th!

Sunday worship is happening tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. The theme will explore the curious story of a Canaanite women asking Jesus for help. When he refuses, an interesting and life changing conversation ensues. Jesus gets a little hot under collar this week, but that’s okay, we have air conditioning!!

Come on out to the Canada Day festivities and drop in to colour, create a soccer-themed bracelet, and add your name to the soccer ball poster! We are all on one team!

This Sunday we will be exploring the gift of Sabbath. It is also foodbank donation week. The foodbank is in need of snack foods such as granola bars and fishy crackers, apple sauce and pudding paks, along with juice boxes. A few hiccups have resulted in changing our original outdoor worship plans back to worshipping indoors. Our social time after church will be held outdoors, so we can visit with our neighbours during our town’s festivities!
