Disappointed (or elated) with the election results?

God asks us to pray for those in authority -- whether or not they're "our guys". As well, the Scriptures tell us that leaders come and go -- their roots are barely in the ground and they wither away "like stubble". The Kingdom of God is different!

“When we speak of the kingdom of God, we are speaking of a kingdom which works more like a family or a well-functioning neighbourhood, where people really do love one another and care for each other. This kingdom is the range of God’s effective will—or simply God acting in this world—where what He wants done is done. Jesus’ teaching showed us that the kingdom of God is not a thing of times and places; it is a thing of the heart. It is a life that is lived in vital connection with God himself. Unlike the kingdom of God, human government functions on principles of force, deception, brutality, and the power of death. All human governments have the power of death, but what they lack is the power of life. This is what the kingdom of God has: the power of life. Human governments can kill. God’s government gives life. This life is based upon the new birth that is an entry into the kingdom of God.”
– Dallas Willard

You are welcome to join us for an imperfect glimpse of the Kingdom of God as we gather this Sunday at 10:30. Stay for a light lunch and chat if you can.

Too many options...or not enough options. Too many questions. Too few solutions. Indecision. Fear. Confusion. Everyone has been there.

The week after Easter was one of those times for the followers of Jesus. Some were saying "we have seen the Lord!" and others weren't so sure. Nobody seemed know the answer to "what now?" Some just went fishing.

This week at Village Church Newcastle, Dr Greg Reader will be looking at how "breakfast with Jesus" can help us begin to find answers.

Please come and join with our community of seekers of Jesus as we seek to understand truth, peace and abundant life. Everyone is welcome, no matter where they are in their journey.

We meet at Newcastle Public School at 10:30 a.m. Coffee is ready by 10:15. Stay for a light lunch and hangout afterwards, if you can. Casual dress. No offering. Kids programme for up to grade six. We hope to see you!

We let the kids in church loose at our Easter celebration.

As we reflect at the cost of our sin today...
We remember we are healed by his wounds.

Pray with us for the churches across the Network to proclaim the good news of Jesus' death and resurrection this weekend 💚

Happy St Patrick's Day!

"Wake Up Call I arise today Through God’s strength to direct me, God’s might to uphold me, God’s wisdom to guide me, God’s eye to look before, God’s ear to hear me, God’s word to speak to me, God’s hand to guard me, God’s way to lie before me, God’s shield to protect me, God’s hosts to save me from snares of devils.

From temptation of vices, From everyone who shall wish me ill, Afar and anear, Alone and in a multitude."

—Attributed to St. Patrick, from “The Deer’s Cry” (St. Patrick’s Breastplate), translated by Kuno Meyer

SUNDAY WORSHIP CANCELLATION!

We just got notice about 30 minutes ago that the school will not be open for us on Sunday. They are not confident that they can supply staff due to the weather forecast, and so have cancelled our booking for Sunday. We cannot locate an alternative location on short notice and so are sadly forced to cancel our formal meeting. We encourage everyone to “be church” — shovel snow for someone, invite people for food or coffee, meet for prayer, or do all three!

What's ahead in 2025?

Happy New Year! How's your 2025 shaping up so far? Most of us begin with hopes, aspirations and plans. Maybe its a new job, or to drop a dress size or to stop scrolling and read a book. (Go ahead, you have our permission to close facebook right now.)

At Village Church, we love sharing life's journey with one another -- encouraging, listening, coming alongside people in time of need, and learning from one another's experiences. God shapes us as we gather together around the Bible, around the dinner table, or around our service together.

If you're looking to engage with what God has for you in 2025, we warmly invite you to join us. We need one another.

We meet on Sundays at 10:30 at Newcastle Public School, 50 Glass Court. We hope you can stay for a simple lunch and some chat afterwards. For more information send us a facebook message or write to [email protected]
