A little Festival of the Tartans throwback from Trinity’s history!

This photo appeared on the Trinity page of Norman Munroe’s 1993 book, Where Two or Three Are Gathered: The Churches of Pictou County. It was taken outside Trinity following the annual Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan service on July 21, 1991.

Pictured are pipers Harold MacDonnell and Mike Sears; Lord Provost of Glasgow, Scotland, Susan Baird; Trinity United Church Minister Rev. Howard Clark; and Nova Scotia Premier Donald Cameron.

Thirty-five years later, the Festival of the Tartans continues to celebrate the Scottish heritage and traditions that are such an important part of our community.

Congratulations to the Festival of the Tartans committee and all of the volunteers on another successful Festival weekend! It takes a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes to keep traditions like these alive from one generation to the next.

We’re pleased to share this little piece of Trinity history as another Festival weekend comes to a close.

We apologize for the technical difficulties experienced during this morning's worship service livestream.

As many of you know, we have temporarily moved our worship services downstairs to the Multi-Purpose Room while work continues in the Sanctuary. With this change came a different technology setup, and unfortunately we encountered some unexpected issues with this morning's livestream.

We know many of you join us online each week, and we're sorry for the inconvenience.

The good news is that the service was recorded, and the full video will be uploaded as soon as possible for anyone who would like to watch it back.

We appreciate your continued support and look forward to worshipping with you again next Sunday!

(Thank you to our very own Jean Nicol for the photos!)

At Trinity, we're grateful to partner with organizations that bring compassionate care to our community. One of those valued partners is the Pictou County Palliative Care Society.

Through programs such as PALS (Palliative Support Group), the 3C's (Coffee & Conversation for Caregivers), and the monthly Grief Cooking Classes, we're thankful to share our space in support of people navigating grief, illness, caregiving, and life's many transitions.

Tonight, the Society is hosting Shaun & Friends: Count Your Blessings – A Summer Concert next door to Trinity at First Presbyterian Church New Glasgow. If you're looking for an uplifting evening of music while supporting compassionate care in Pictou County, we encourage you to attend.

Please see the poster below for full details. 💙
