Lord help me to relax.
Take me from the tension that makes peace impossible.
Take me from the fears that do not allow me to venture.
Take me from my worries that blind my sight.
Take me from the distress that hides your joy.
Help me to know that I am with you,
that I am in your care,
that I am in your love,
that you and I are one.
Amen

O God, as I look back at my life I see many pieces of light. They have given me hope and comfort in my bleak and weary times. I thank you for the radiance of a dark sky full of stars and for the faithful light of dawn which follows every turn of darkness. I thank you for loved ones and strangers whose inner beacons of light have warmed and welcomed my pain. I thank you for your presence in my depths, protecting, guiding, reassuring, loving. I thank you for all those life surprises which sparked a bit of hope in my ashes. And yes, I thank you for my darkness ( the unwanted companion I shun and avoid) because this pushy intruder comes with truth and reveals my hidden treasures to me,

God, make me brave, let me strengthen after pain. As a tree strengthens after the rain, shining and lovely again. As the blown grass lifts, let me rise from sorrow with quiet eyes, knowing Your way is wise. God, make me brave, life brings such blinding things. Help me to keep my sight, help me to see aright, that out of the dark, comes light.

As the bread which we break was scattered over the mountains, and when brought together, became one, so let your church be brought together from the ends of the earth into your eternal realm. For your’s O’ God, is the glory and the power through Jesus Christ evermore. Amen

O God, none of us are the same. We have different gifts and abilities. Yet, you love each of us and long for us to love one another. You, O Christ, prayed, “that all might be one.” Yet, we are divided and separated from one another. You O Spirit, call us to be one body. Yet, we are fractured and splintered as a church. O Christ, make us one in love. O Spirit, may the whole world know our faith through our loving action. Amen

Lord, I thank you for this world, for its infinite varieties of peoples, colours, races and cultures, for the endless opportunities of making new relationships, for the challenge of venturing across new frontiers, creating new things and discovering new truths, for your call to heal all that is broken or hurt. Forgive my narrowness of vision and open me to the breadth of your love. Amen
