An update on our Summer 2026 at St. Paul's: "A Place at the Table"
With the Agape Pot-Luck Worship Sunday, Aug. 16th, we ended, with food and worship, our devotions about ‘a place at the table. ‘We covered, over the course of the summer, a number of our sacred stories about folks dining together, about friends and strangers hosting and feeding one another, and about unlikely people finding places at the tables together.
Thank you to all who enjoyed our Strawberry Supper and who experienced ‘Our Place at the table’, now onto September and Fall .
Upcoming Services: Rev. Jessie is enjoying some vacation time so this Sunday,
August 23 - Terry Roane - reflection on a parable; Choir leading the service ( Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32). Although I will generally focus on the broad themes of forgiveness, mercy and grace, I will talk about the cultural context of the time and the varying focus of theologians who have studied the parable over the centuries.
August 30 - We welcome Sue Reid, DLM, for this Sunday and September 6,
September 13 - welcome back Rev. Jessie
Back to Sunday School BBQ: Sept 20! We will resume Sunday School with Michelle Green starting Sun, Sep 20, and kick-off our kiddos' journey of youth faith and learning with a BBQ lunch after worship. All are welcome!
and just a reminder, Church service is at 10 am, all are welcome

Got a nice summer dress you haven't had a chance to wear yet this season? 💃 Or maybe a fun tropical shirt/board shorts??👕🩳 Well tomorrow's your chance to don them as we join in worship around our theme of "Summer Gatherings"!

Sunday, Aug 9, 10 am - Agape pot-luck worship at St. Paul's!

Agape Pot-Luck Worship this Sunday! 🍓🥞🍇🍍🍳

Do you have a favourite summer-gathering tradition? We would like to hear about it!

Join us as we worship around tables at 10am this Sunday--we'll open with some music & liturgy, then we want to hear from you: What summer gathering tradition (be it formal or informal) has been the most meaningful to you, and who was the host/hostess?

You are invited to bring a favourite breakfast item/summer fruit/treat to share (it can be related to your story, or something you just feel like sharing this week!)

And as always, no worries if you don't have time to prepare anything--NOBODY goes hungry at St. Paul's!

Hope to see you Sunday! ⛪

Will you help us set our table? 🍽️

This summer, we are exploring our sacred scriptures through the lens of "A Place at the Table." As as part of this theme, we are setting our own "St. Paul's table" with items that carry stories of our own moments of finding a place at a table.

So we want to know: was there a time in your life when someone made "a place at the table" for you? Do you still have something in your kitchen/dining room that reminds you of that experience--a bowl, a cup, a vase, a placemat, etc...? We would love to hear you tell us how your item reminds you of a time you found "a place at the table." 🥣🥄🍶🍴

🍽️This past Sunday, we kicked off our series on "A Place at the Table," in which we'll be exploring the Bible's stories about people finding connection (with one another and with God) across tables.

You can listen to our fist installment now, on the story of the Wedding at Cana:

New summer series starting this Sunday: "A Place at the Table"

Summer is an ideal time for gathering. We go to barbeques, we make s’mores around campfires, we celebrate weddings and anniversaries, we go visit friends and family, and we host loved ones who come and vacation here. No matter what we are doing or how busy we may be, when someone we love comes to town, we make a place at our table for them.

Gathering around tables was a core part of Jesus’ ministry. He fed five thousand. He broke bread with the twelve. He made sure to dine with the people who were most despised by their communities. The practice of gathering around a good meal was so important to Jesus, that he developed a bit of a reputation as “a glutton and a drunkard” (we’ll unpack that later…).

This summer we are asking: what spiritual nourishment have we found within our practices of gathering and breaking bread together? How can we continue this Christian tradition of always “making a place at the table”? And, how can we go deeper in our practices of gathering—connecting more deeply with one another and with the Holy?

We hope you join us!
