Statement from National President Shari Guinta on the election of the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV:

Catholics of the world rejoice as we hear of the election of the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV!

The Catholic Women’s League of Canada offers congratulations, welcome and, most importantly, our prayers for the Holy Father as he steps into the Chair of Saint Peter. League members look to the Holy Father for leadership and direction within the church on issues that we deal with in our parishes, our communities and globally.

The leader of the world’s Catholics has an ominous position as he takes the position to lead us in the way of Jesus Christ.

May Pope Leo XIV be blessed with wisdom, strong, unfailing faith and good health as he becomes the 267th pontiff.

May God bless him richly.

Easter Greetings from National President, Shari Guinta:

Sisters in the League:

During this Holy Week, I wanted to reach out to members across Canada with an offer of prayer for all, as we journey toward the passion of Christ and the Resurrection.

Lent stirs up mixed emotions for me, especially during Holy Week, hearing about Jesus’ journey toward the Passion and crucifixion. It is an emotional time of sadness and hurt and yet great beauty and ultimate joy.

I’ve received cards from members offering best wishes for my Lent and Easter experience and appreciate the offer of best wishes and prayers. The kindness warms my heart. It’s a blessing to have like-minded women across the country who pray for me and think of me as I continue my journey in the League as national president.

Be assured of my prayers for the League and you – all members who work diligently for God and Canada.
