This week, we dove into the tension between over-idealism and reality. We often have lofty expectations for life, people, and church that can lead to disappointment when reality doesn’t match up. However, God’s redemptive plan through Jesus brings hope and healing (John 14:6).

We reflected on the early church in Acts, which, though Spirit-filled, faced challenges. Rather than striving for perfection, they pursued health. —through collective engagement, Spirit-led decisions, and focusing on Jesus.

Three core values we saw from Acts 6:1-7:

1. Jesus-centered: The early church prioritized physical needs and spiritual truths.

2. Spirit-led and intentional: The apostles sought the Spirit’s guidance and established practical systems for care.

3. Collective engagement: The community worked together, identifying and empowering leaders to meet needs.

Thanks to everyone who came out to our collective gathering yesterday! If you missed it, here is a quick overview of the Gratitude Challenge we talked about:

In October, we’re focusing on gratitude. The daily challenge is to think of one person who has brought God’s presence into our lives – it could be a close friend, family member, coworker, or even someone who showed us kindness. Reflect on what you appreciate about them and send a heartfelt thank-you message. Let’s spread love and positivity by appreciating 31 different people this month.  It’s about more than just saying thanks; it’s about realizing that our connections with others can help us get closer to God. Let’s deepen our gratitude and connect with the divine through past and present connections.
