Is the Lord your hope and confidence?

Do you trust him with every part of your life?

Remember these words of Jesus: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matt 28:20 (NLT)

Are you feeling a little disconnected from God?

January can be a discouraging month, with the excitement of Christmas and the New Year long past and Spring far away. In the midst of the quiet and waiting of winter, might you find time for God?

If you're feeling disconnected from God, the simplest remedy is to read your Bible and pray. God wants to speak to you and hear from you. When you stay joined to him, God will stay joined to you, even if it doesn’t seem like he’s working. That's why it's important to keep planting seeds of faith in our lives through practices like Bible reading and prayer. You won't reap the harvest if you don't plant the seed. 🌱

“Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders.” — Henry David Thoreau

"God, the one and only — I’ll wait as long as he says.
Everything I need comes from him, so why not?
He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul,
An impregnable castle: I’m set for life."
(Ps 62:1-2, MSG)

You can find breathing room for your soul through resting in God. It's a beautiful way to describe the rest you find when you wait quietly and allow the presence of God to fill you.

Here are three challenges for you today.
1. Take notice of the spaces in your life that encourage rest.
2. Notice the sensory experiences that allow your soul to breath.
3. Recognize actions that encourage you to stop, rest, and delight in God.

Are you tired and weary? Got the mid-winter blues?

Did you know God offers his people different kinds of rest? Sometimes we need a brief moment to take a few deep breaths and recalibrate, and other times we need a rest of exhaustion because we're weary at the end of a busy day. And these are just two of the many kinds of rest God offers us.

Check out Christine's new series, "Rest," to learn about different ways God calls you to rest, and how to create these rests in your life.

Take some time for rest today so you can rest in Him. 🙏🏽

Suffering, no matter what form it takes, is an unavoidable reality of our world. Brokenness, loss, heartache, illness, disaster, and pain are bound to strike at some point in your earthly existence, but that doesn’t mean you have no hope to get through it. On the contrary, God longs for us to call on Him in our struggles.

Are you suffering today? Try calling out to him and trusting him with your heartache. He will help you find peace and joy.

Think back to a period of hardship or suffering in your life that you are on the other side of now. In that experience, did you sense God’s closeness and care? Did He speak to you in a new way? If so, take a moment to thank him for His faithfulness.

If you felt more distant from God in that experience, are you willing to trust that he was still near you? Do you believe that he desires closeness with you in your hardships?

Take a moment to pray for an open heart and still mind as you learn to sense his presence in your current struggles. 🌿

Mental health is a struggle that many people can relate to these days. Although mental struggles may be par for the course until Jesus comes again, our devotional writer, Joy Lenton, reminds us, "Though we might cling to our weeds of guilt and shame, Jesus removes them when we trust in him. He gives us a new life and heart, which we can use to love God, love others, and accept ourselves. Jesus heals our wounds and wipes away our tears.”

You don’t need to wait for the restoration of the world to accept Jesus’ care and goodness. He is the ultimate comforter and healer. You are beloved to him, and He understands your current struggles. ❤️

A small act of kindness may be simple, but it can have a significant impact. Many small acts of kindness add up to a better world for all. Consider showing kindness in one of these simple ways today:

-Hold a door or elevator for someone
-Donate blood
-Send flowers unexpectedly
-Give a generous tip to a waiter or delivery person
-Buy a coffee for the person behind you in line
-Encourage someone in your workplace

Words matter. They can build up, tear down, and humiliate. They can help and defeat. How do you choose to use them?

As Mother Theresa once said, “Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.”

Consider being intentional about using kind words today, and trust that they will echo far beyond your reach.

Have you ever experienced a difficult day that turned around instantly because someone showed you a little bit of kindness?

Kindness is powerful. In a world that can be harsh and cruel, being kind can make a meaningful impact. When you choose to clothe yourself in kindness, you have the opportunity to demonstrate Jesus’ love to those you come in contact with. You demonstrate holiness.

✨Choose kindness today. You never know who may see Jesus for the first time through you. ✨

Sometimes, change is wanted and welcomed. If you’re currently in a season of waiting, this sentiment will resonate. But what happens when it seems like your situation isn’t changing?

Waiting is difficult. It sends our minds into a flurry of “what if’s” and doubt. Does God know my desires? Does he even care?

Sometimes the change you long for will not be something that happens for you but something that you need to make happen.

Sometimes the change you long for requires that you simply wait and trust.

Remember that none of your experiences are wasted. They are opportunities to trust that God is still working in and through you. 🌱
